Slipping Away: the Captain, the War, and the Curse
The Warnning

Hall of Knights

Sakura awoke the next morning and began her normal routin. Once upon closing her door a knight came up to her, "Sakura, the Commander wishes to see you in the Commitiee Room." Sakura nodded at the knight and began walking to the Commitiee Room. Once getting to the door she knocked twice, "Who is it?" Glen's voice came from the other side, "Sakura." was all she said. Glen muffled a come in, Sakura opened the door to find Snowe standing next to his father. Sakura was nervous as a fish would be coming out from water. She walked next to Katerina who was standing next to Snowe, to the others she looked as if nothing was wrong or worried, just a knight ready to recive orders.
This was when Sakura noticed another in the room. A tall bald man, dress in a green jacket with red and white checkers, light tan pants, and brown boots. She also noticed he had circle glasses, which to her didn't seem normal. "Sakura, this is Mr. Ranmada. He is a client for you and Snowe." Katerina stated after seeing her confused look. Glen cleared his throut, "Sakura, Snowe, You are to escourt Mr. Ranmada's ship, the Orack Trade Ship to Illuya." Mr. Ranmada then came forward, "These are the knights? Their just children?" Snowe then got a serious look on his face, "Sir, we are not children. We are only knights here to serve the Kingdom of Gaian, agreed Sakura?" Sakura nodded her head in agreement. Mr. Ranmada became even more nervous, "But this is a girl!?" Sakura could have sworn she heard Lord Vingerhutt chuckle, but let it pass. "Sir, I may be a girl, but I swore my loyalty to Gaian and the Commander. Illuya is where you want to go correct? I've trained there with Snowe and many other knights. I know what I am doing and so does Snowe, Sir." she then felt a cold stare on her.
Glen then cleared his voice, "Believe me Mr. Ranmada, I wouldn't be putting them in this state if I didn't know they were good enough." Mr. Ranmada then sighed in defeat. "Snowe, you are dubed captain during this mission. When you two are ready, please come back and tell us." Katerina spoke and then dismissing them. Sakura watched Snowe's excitement reach to a high level through his eyes. "Captain...a real captain, not just for training but the real deal! Sakura, lets do our best." Snowe turned and patted her on the shoulder, Sakura poked him in the forehead, "Right. I know what to do." Once outside, Snowe then turned to Sakura again, "I'm going to check on the ship. Lets meet back here, ok?" Sakura nodded her head for Snowe's question and walked off to the market.
Sakura opened the two huge doors to the market. Everyone and everything was there. Ladies gossiping in various tounges, children running and screaming while playing their games, the fisherman selling their haul, and the sound of the ocean's waves crashing on the docks. She gather what she needed first and then noticed a Rune Shop on the far side of the market. Curiousity took over her and walked over to the shop. She creeked open the old door into the dark and dim litted shop. "Welcome young knight," Sakura almost dropped her bag with her supplies at the sound of the old shop keeper's voice, "come here child. Lets see what rune we can give you?"
Sakura walked carefully up to the shop owner at her desk. She noticed also on the desk was not just some books and papers, but a large glowing purple orb. The orb's light seemed to be drawing her into the hidden clouds inside the orb. "Sakura please put down your bags." Sakura shot her head up at the shop keeper, "How do you know my name?" she questioned while putting her bag down. "*chuckle* Gossip spreads easily on a small island, my child. The tale of a mysterious young girl, who was found on a piece of drift wood floating on the sea, and the Commader that saved her. More or less the knight and lady she has become." the old woman put her hand palm up near Sakura. "Let me hold your right hand and see what rune shall go upon it?"
Sakura hestitently reached her hand out and over the shop keeper's hand. The woman then moved her free hand and touched the orb. The orb's clouds then started to turn into what looked like it was alive. The color then changed from a shade of colors; purple, blue, yellow, green, and then stopped on a reddish-orange color. The shape of the clouds then turned into a fire like state, "Ah. I see, your right hand is destinied for a Fire Rune. But the choice is yours, child, will you accept the Fire Rune?" Sakura looked at the orb and remember that Snowe had a rune equiped on his left hand, the Water Rune. She closed her eyes and also remember how helpful that rune came in certain spots of trouble. Sakura opened her eyes, "Yes. I accept the Fire Rune." A flash of orange light occured and Sakura jolted to close her eyes from the bright light. When the light was gone, she felt the woman remove her hand from under Sakura's, "Now my child, you have the power of fire at your command." Sakura then blinked open her eyes to a fire shape mark on her left hand, it almost looked burned into her skin and felt like it too.
"Child, shall I read your left hand?" Sakura then carefully reached her hand over to the woman, 'If I have two runes, I might become an even better knight than before.' The woman then clasped her hand over Sakura's and placed it on the orb. Instead of it turning to shades of different colors, it almost sounded like the orb was screaming. The color of the orb then turned from purple to black in an instant. "Oh...ah...impossible...this is!? Child, my orb spells death for you on your left hand. A curse...a great deadly curse shall come upon you," Sakura was just about to jerk her hand away from this whacked old lady when in the mist of the black orb, a light shined. "but my orb says there is hope for you, Sakura. Be warned child, this curse's power is close. There is something importatent for you to know, this curse may show the darkest fears in your heart...but never under any darkness in your heart, smile. Smile and be happy for what you have, that is the curse's one weakness."
The old woman then moved her hand off of Sakura's and smiled, "Go now, you have something to do, yes? Don't worry about the cost for the Fire Rune, its on me." Sakura bowed at the woman and picked up her bag and walked out the old door. The old woman then slouched down into her arm chair and sighed, "Never in my wildest dreams, I never thought that I would meet a bearer of a True Rune..." Sakura then walked back to the Hall and found Snowe outside waiting, "Where were you? I almost when in by myself?" Sakura smiled as she gave a knight, whom would be traveling with her and Snowe on the ship, the bag with all the supplies. "Nothing happened, just was talking to a gossiper and lost time." Snowe shook his head at Sakura and walked threw the doors as she followed.
