    It hurts to be without you

    It’s a double edged sword

    Without a handle to hold on to

    I can’t control it

    I can’t stop the hurt

    But to be around you

    Makes me happy too


    I hoped that if I stayed away for long enough

    It would numb the pain

    And it would stop hurting so much

    And I tried stayed away

    I tried so hard to keep myself away from your heart

    Maybe you were thinking of me

    Maybe we were just meant to be apart


    I don’t know why

    I don’t understand

    Who holds the handle,

    For that double edged blade

    For it hurts us both

    It’s easy to see

    In the eyes that look back at me


    Love is a horrible thing

    Its strikes when least needed

    And holds its grip

    Never letting go

    If you try to pry it off

    It just gains a tighter hold.


    Love is supposed to be a beautiful thing

    One that creates a union

    Between two human beings

    But what if those fated lovers

    Can’t be with each other


    Is this what happens,

    The pain and the sadness

    Is this what love causes

    When it doesn’t follow the fated path?
