• Change is arriving and she knows it all too well.
Whether it is good or bad, for now she cannot tell.

But will it make a difference? In the end she will still remain.
Even if the things that surround her will never be the same.

Summer has vanished, and a new season takes its place.
Along with the new responsibilities she must learn to face.

Is she strong enough for what’s to come? She doesn’t know.
Tomorrow will sketch another map for where she must go.

But she looks at the battered tree beyond her windowsill.
The green leaves of summer’s past, decaying against their will.

Even if everything changes, the tree is still there.
Aware of its leaves lingering in the cool autumn air.

What used to be will dissipate with the arrival of what will come.
But for now the tree awaits the future with a quiet welcome.

Perhaps she should do the same; the tree has survived countless of changes after all.
She picks up a leaf, and casts it into the wind accepting the arrival of an early fall.
