It is a conquistador of man

Levels have been brought down because of it
Oceans capsized just to experience it
Ventures have been taken to grip it
Eternity can pass before a true one is found

The beginning is a bit shaky but the way you ended it made up for that folly. Best one i have read today, though that in itself isn't saying much, but i bet a 4/5 will tell you what you want to know.
