The Sonnet Sonnet

• Description: I had to write some Shakespearean Sonnets for my AP Lit class. This is the second one. The first is titled "Your Curious Power" and can be found in my arena gallery.
  (For those that dont know, a Shakespearean Sonnet consists of 3 quatrains and a couplet, in iambic pentameter. Basically, ababcdcdefefgg with each line being 10 syllables)

But on the real, though, Sonnets are stupid

And Shakespeare has always been such a bore

Leave all the romantic crap to Cupid

and save all the loving for the whore

Cliches permeate the drawn out rhyme scheme

and iambic pentameter is dumb

Sonnets creep into the worst of my dreams

Where I write bad poems til my hand's numb

But I do, in fact, have a solution

to rid us of Sonnets once and for all

to escape literary pollution

If you will just answer my urgent call

Someone, please build a time machine fast

Go back and kick Shakespeare's a** in the past
