• You'd think there'd be a light somewhere,
Maybe a faint glimmer, at least,
    But I can't find one,
Not in this fog of life.

Once in a while, though, I see a flash-
In leaves blowing into my face,
Or raindrops rolling off the windowpane,
But it's gone before it's there-
It's just more glitter to add to the pictures,
    Not real light.

    Some say they found light,
    In life, or happiness,
I look there, and I see dust,
    Dust where others see crystal.

    Gentle nudges from the wind,
They spin my vision into nothing,
    My hands, reaching,
    I fall into nothing.
