• In the breath before dawn,
    The temptress lures me in,
    With thoughts of relief,
    From the stinging cold,
    On this midwinter’s night.

    She sways and moans,
To the rhythm of the wind,
Lights flicker between her slender arms,
Her feet are precariously placed in your way.

    Animals scurry about her feet,
    Moans turn into groans,
As the wind picks up speed,
    And snow begins to fall.

    It drifts around her,
    In soft flakes
    Coating her with sparkling silver,
And she shines like a diamond,
    Under the noon sun.

    Oh forest surround me,
    With your loving embrace,
    Never let me leave,
    Your snowy banks.
