• As I walked along my road today
I came upon a holy man
    Standing still beside the way
    Gazing 'cross the deserts span

    I stopped along beside him
    Gazing 'cross the endless sand
It danced and played at secret whim
Stirred, as if by unseen hands

The wind moaned soft across our ears
The sand caressed our our skin
It wakened dreams and hopes and fears
    Locked somewhere deep within

The sun did slowly leave the sky
And stars came out to play
And as I watched they seemed to fly
    Across the heavenly sway

No once we spike, the man and I
Not once I looked upon his face
We gazed upon the dance on high
And I longed to leave this place

The sun rose slowly from its sleep
    The desert 'round us woke
And still we stood in silence deep
Still not a word we spoke

Then as if a spell was broke
    He stirred and looked around
    Like a sleeper just awoken
From a nigh spend on the ground

He turned to watch the suns ascent
Then looked out across the land
And then along his way he went
    Disappeared into the blowing sand

Oft I've pondered on that night
And the magic in the air
But never once, try as I might
    Could I return to there
