• The Lonely Rose

    A golden shaft of sunlight
    Cruelly ripped from its life-giver
    The loving yellow rose
    Torn heartlessly from its stem

I would like to think it was for a good reason
As the thorns failed to protect it
    To protect the laughing rose
It's delicate golden petals turned to the sun in pure joy
Yet when I see how despicably the rose was
seized from its strong stalk, I begin to doubt...

The lonely rose with petals of pure sunlight
    Stolen from my mother's garden
For simple amusement or a selfish greed
