• I want to be someone who's proud of that crazy, half-awake person they see first thing in the morning.

There lies a certain beauty in that woman whose hair is messed up and frizzy, whose makeup is all worn off, and who always finds more flaws in herself than anyone else ever could, only because she is far too critical of things, yet so relaxed when it comes to others.

Who is she? That woman in the shower--vulnerable, naked, alone with her thoughts and still preparing herself for a day she isn't sure she can conquer. She hopes the water can wash away past mistakes, cleanse her spirit; yet, she appreciates those scars she runs her hands over, reminders of where she's been, how far she's come, and how prepared she is for today.

Yeah, she's a mess, but she'll make it through the day. Somehow, some way...all of those past experiences make her who she is. And she's okay with that: sure, she's not perfect, and makeup won't cover everything. But she's ready, refreshed, and welcomes the world with open arms, awaiting a new day of adventure, whatever it may bring.

And when that day is done, she'll lay down, close her eyes...and know she's not afraid to see that woman in the mirror again tomorrow morning. Perhaps, she thinks, she will greet her with a smile next time, and the two can chat over tea. But for now, sleep...
