• Like the thorn in my side,
buried deep but still in view,
the pain is difficult to hide.

    Does anyone see me bleeding?
    Do they notice my face,
    contorted by my screaming?

How long before they stop to help me?
Absorbed in the lives I thought I was a part of.
Unable to move as they walk away and leave me.

Standing in a pool of blood,
I watch their smiles and hear their laughter.
And within me, this scene creates a new flood.

It warms my skin and makes me whole.
    This miracle of humanity.
    This proof of the soul.

And though I know i will not live,
    to all my great loves,
    happiness is what I give.
