• As our breathing keeps in beat with our hearts,
I cannot help but wonder whose eyes you see.
From this distance, it appears to be mine.
But Insecurity creeps up behind me and whispers to my heart.
    Then the breakdown begins,
And I fall apart in front of you.
    Like a porcelain doll,
I just seem to fall and shatter once I hit the ground.
All the pieces that made me up laid in your hands.
    Helplessly, you watch me.
My head presses against your chest,
I feel you then crush my body into yours.
And your callused hands brush through my hair.
    Whispered apologies escape your lips...
I tell my heart to let them in and to listen.
Taking it a step further, I tell my heart to let it all go.
Letting your lips find mine again,
My eyes close, but all the others appear.
The reoccurring pain causes my heart to throb,
    And I break away.
Rejection is written on your face,
And hurt gleams in your eyes.
Insecurity fills my words with venom as I speak.
The pain you have caused me...
Does not even compare to the sting of my words.
You then hold your head in your hands,
And I hold my legs as an attempt to hold myself together.
The environment I am in is deadly,
But I find myself quickly pushing back into your arms.
Although Insecurity comes over me every time we touch
Or even just if our eyes meet,
I cannot imagine my life in anyone else's arms.
Soon I feel my dream break along with me.
I may not have any experience, but I have confidence...
That one day, you will be able to fix everything.
    But until then,
I stay trapped in a cage with my constant companion,
    Insecurity.
