-
His wise eyes gaze out the window,
out to a field, covered in snow.
It coats the grass and trees evenly,
falling from the sky silently.
Its undisturbed beauty enthralls him,
amazement and awe tingle his skin.
He's motionless as he watches the sun rise,
he sees something out of the corner of his eye.
Kids running outside, feet flying, one almost fell,
Their laughter rang out, sweet as bells.
A faint smile touches his lips as he watches them play,
He remembers being a child, though his days are numbered today.
Reluctantly, he turns away from the scene ahead,
his memories fading to the back of his head.
His moment has come, and he's glad his last sight,
would be the children out playing, into the night.
