    no comfort in the smiling faces. masks.
    conversation rings louder, false and true.
    sound of questions that no one cares to ask.

    caught within the walls of interaction,
    with those who care for nothing but their own.
    we smile, talk, wave, and feign a reaction.
    while all the while we remain all alone.

    yell out – they don’t hear. they go on their way,
    content within their fabricated dreams,
    and not one of them has the guts to say,
    “hey, what are you doing? how have you been?”

    a prison of loneliness becomes home.
    we are all together, yet still alone.
