• 6/3/09 – The Folly of Ceremony

    It's a a mad kind of foolishness,
    that which grips the world,
in a desperate bid to escape,
    the baser instincts,
    that whisper across our souls,
allowing us to create and destroy,
    all that lies before us.

    It is the present folly,
    that opens my eyes,
    bathing my vision,
    in the essence,
    of intent to control.

We are of the new generation,
but we are controlled by the old,
    by their traditions,
    their expectations,
    their reservations,
about whether we can succeed where they failed.

    And it doesn't even matter,
whether they believe in us or not,
whether they wish us well, or ill,
    because which ever they choose,
they will still try to control us,
and we will try to break free,
and the power struggle will never end,
    until both agree to conjoin,
apon the middle grounds of acquiescence.

    Until then,
    we must content ourselves,
with the belief that our actions are not in vain,
    and that one day,
the veil will lift from their eyes,
    we shall all come together,
and dance apon the ashes of our discontent,
from which a seedling of unity will grow,
    like that of the phoenix,
rising from the ashes of its past.
