• RESORTING
    by UC Poika

the sun is high in the sky and warm to see
the lawn’s fresh mown aroma fills the air
the blanket’s fleece caresses her undersides
with the restful sighs of summer breezes above
the red breasted robins voice their melodies
the pussycat suns herself on the sunlit stairs
the spaniel pouts on her paws she realizes
and silent doves scratch puddles all dried up
the black garden hose snakes through shortened grass
like vacation highways winding through the woods
where shadows hit the cars like fans from the past
or strobe light views only partially understood
thus she blinks her eyes to imitate it briefly
and wishes she’d resort to sunbathing weekly
