• Tears blurring a grey eye sight
    Her heart, his heart
    Slowly melting below a candle
    Wick’s flames engulfing them
    Charred forever she says
Red wax collecting in her hands
It burns and blisters in her palms
It dries crusty over her rough fingers
She doesn’t scream for she is numb
He stands there staring into her
Waiting for her to collapse from her exhausted mourning
So he can catch her as she plummets
    Rescue her from herself
    He understands her mind
    What it is speaking
    She wants nothing but him
This other boy who caused her mental crash
Even if he was never there
Even though he is the monster that destroyed her
    Her heart still remains loyal
But this boy cloaked in shadow
Caught in the smoke of her eyes
    Willing to risk his sanity
To attempt to reconstruct and repair her
Anything to see her dimpled smile
Anything to sweep away the over hang of rainstorms
Maybe one day soon she’ll realize
    He can be her savior
The soldier that will fight and defeat her sorrows
And illustrate the art of hope
