• The pounding of the rain
    Falls silently on deaf ears
    Your love does not sustain
    Nothing to quell my fears

The pitter patter of the water on the sill
While insisting on making me see
That you couldn't be here and no longer will
Because you can't stand who I've come to be

My hopes and dreams, only a distant thought
    The sound of pouring rain
Losing the love of my life, Left distraught
You would think I felt great disdain

Only, I feel nothing more than sadness and pain
It's pouring down rain as if to say
No matter how hard you try, it will not restrain
Even if you cry, you'll never see the day

The sounds of the thunder rock they sky
The pounding of my heart so loud
As I sit alone and I begin to cry
    Watching every passing cloud

Thunder rolling on like the sea
    Tired, sad, alone and grieving
There is no place I'd rather be
But, I see your back, you're leaving

Lightening that once lit up the sky
    Hoping you would be there
I want only to be happy, I sigh
Is it that you truly no longer care

I know you said you loved me
You wanted to kiss me in the rain
Then how could you just leave me be
And cause me so much pain
