• Perfectly Flawed

I am not a perfect girl
I do not get the best grades
I don’t have the most beautiful appearance
I cannot live up to every expectation
I shall never be the most graceful
I will not be the most athletic
    I won’t be flawless

    Yet, you still love me
    And stand be my side
    No matter what
    My friends stay
    Sticking together
    Like maple syrup on fingers
    Superglue on paper
    Chocolate to a child’s face

    You are the reasons that
I am perfect in your eyes
I do have the best grades, because I tried
I have beauty straight from the heart
    I can meet your expectations
As all you expect is for me to be me
I shall be graceful through my clumsiness
I will be athletic in your thoughts
    I will be flawless

Because to you, my flaw is but a part
    In your eyes
    My imperfections show
Yet those are what make me
    The person who I am
The one that you know and love

    Through your eyes
    And your words and actions
    I know love
    I see truth
    I feel acceptance
And, finally, come to accept myself
    Love myself
    Embrace my perfect imperfections
Know that positives come with the flaws
And, at last, be the person I want to be,
The one that I can be,
    That I am
