• Sway

Since I sailed away with you,
    My world has swayed.

I thought it was the great ocean swells
I thought it was the wind twining its fingers in my hair
I thought it was the rocking of our ship in the waves

    But that all ended.
    And my world still sways.

So tell me, though you’ve gone,
    And I’m no longer floating
    Between the great ocean swells
With the wind playing gently with my hair
With the rocking of the ship beneath my feet

Why does my world still sway?
Why am I still dizzy when I think of you?
Why does the sky spin as I step outside
And breathe the crisp air, piercing my lungs
    As you did my heart?

Is it because it wasn’t the great ocean swells?
Maybe it wasn’t the wind with its playful fingers,
And not the rocking of the ship in the waves.

It’s something inside me that’s swaying,
    Swaying and spinning and swooning
    For you,

Though you’ve left me and gone
In your ship o’er the ocean,
    My world still sways.
