• Her little whisper,
    the saddest sound.
The breath out of her mouth barely makes a sound,
yet through the pain her thoughts remain.
Such a complex and simple thing,
It can give and take so easily.
    Death isn't an equal thing,
    it comes on unsuspecting.
Her voice, strong yet quiet now.
She's scared, her time is up,
the pleads of "don't give up" ringing in her ears.
Yet through it all, through all the tears,
she doesn't feel bad for herself.
    She embraces her pain,
    life, so unfair.
    She knows there's nothing now,
    nothing more to do.
    She lived, and she's dying,
    the cold hard truth.
    She takes her last breath,
    feels her last touch.
    The plunge into nothing,
    once more a life lost.
