• A dark shape against a starlit sky
Followed soon by a jolt and a grind.
Could it really happen to the unsinkable star liner?
Women and children first! It went.
Never to see the remaining people again.
    Some years later, ninety almost
I stood at a museum to see what they surfaced.
Some of it was happy, like the beautiful recreation of the staircase,
But most was sad, like the suitcases and jewelry.
Knowing that these things once belonged to the victims,
    It brought and uneasy feeling.
But what I remember the most, as clear as day
Was the feeling of the steel that was once a ship.
Instead of steel characteristics, it reminded me of a piece of wood.
Not until now, when I think back to that day at the museum,
Do I see the wrongs in disturbing the grave site that is known as the RMS Titanic.
