• Triumphant, he felt
    As he skipped home
With the ring he would propose with under his belt.
    His face was bright,
    His eyes and smile wide,
Under the impression that this choice was right.
But when he came to her house,
    Through the door he heard,
The laughter, of his would-be spouse.
    To the window he flew,
    Hoping and praying,
    His suspicions were not true.
    But alas! they were
    For what he had found,
Was his love in the arms of someone other than he.
With a sharp pain in his chest he fell to the ground.
Oh! he thought, It just can not be!
The next morning she found him and let out a cry.
For she knew she was the reason
    That he had died.
His last thoughts were of her,
    Of this
    I am quite sure.
    For he grasped the ring
    Desperately
    In his hand.
    But instead of to her,
His last kiss was given to the land.
