• As I gain true consciousness
My mind beholds a spectral sight
    The images of chances lost,
    Feelings that were never shared
People that I seemed to miss,
And others that were never there.

The life, the people, that I know
Are not the same as they had seemed
    Facades of joy and happiness,
    Lies buried in amongst themselves
    Truths unheard and some untold,
And more that others wait to tell.

    Secrets, whispers, all around
Dishonest words spread far and wide
    Gossip flees from listless lips,
    Misery a stepping stone
    Destroying one another's goals,
To attempt to reach their own.
