• I walked up the stairs of school with a note for Mr. Bestgen clutched in hand. I was excited to see Laura because I hadn't seen her or hugged her in a few days. I needed my daily dose of Lu. I trotted down the hallway and into the tight spot leading to his classroom. I entered his classroom, looking for Mr. Bestgen, but mostly for Lulu. I saw Lulu, but no Shawn Bestgen. I hurried over to Lu and just as I was about to hug her, she bent low over her shoe to tie it. She looked up at me and I saw her eyes go glassy, and roll into the back of her head, only seeing the whites of her eyes. I dropped the note and yelled, "LAURA!" I dropped to my knees and so did Darby and Emma. "SAM! Go tell Ms. O'Donnel!" Darby ordered, her eyes watering. "guys grab her arms, I'll get behind her," I said, maneuvering around them both to her back. Lulu was heavier when she was passed out and as I lifted her up she woke up hazily and said, "Who are you guys? What are you doing to me?" My heart started beating fast, what would happen to her? Flashes of Lu started to run through my head as if she were. . .no, I couldn't think of that word. I just couldn't bare to. I believed that she would be alive and well in a few minutes after Robyn came to pick her up. Nurse Jessica might not call her though, she never cared about any of the students, she just needed the money. I didn't care. . .I'd call her, I knew their number. At that moment, Mr. Bestgen strode in the room. "What are you guys doing?" he asked looking suspiciously at Darby, Emma, and I holding up Lulu. "She fainted," I panted. His jaw dropped as Sam came back into the room, winded from running the stairs. "Okay well er. . ." Mr. Bestgen stuttered, obviously not knowing what to do. "Well don't just stand there!" I yelled, not caring what came out of my mouth. "Right!' he agreed, taking Laura from our grasp. He took her in his arms and she squirmed, but he held on to her, trying to calm her down. "Sara, call Robyn. You have your cell?" he asked. I nodded. "I, as a teacher, give you permission." he said. I nodded and sprinted after him, running into my already open locker door. It wouldn't shut anyway so i never bothered. My head stung, but I ignored it as I pulled out my green rumor and turned it on. "Come on!" I whispered violently at it. I heard the familiar ring of it turning on and I gasped for breath. I didn't wait for service I pressed 6-Robyn's speed dial number. "Sara?" she asked, surprised to hear me on my cell. "No time-Laura fainted, will you come picke her up?" I gasped again. "Yes," she choked and without another word, she hung up. I pressed end and stuck my phone to my chest, saying a quiet prayer for Laura: God? I know I'm not as good to you as I should be, but if you could just help her, I would so much appreciate it. I know you have, like, a lot of things to do, and I'm just one person with a small problem, but I just hope Lu will be okay, she's one of my best friends and well, that would be great. I love you so much. Thanks.
I sprinted downstairs after Mr. Bestgen to find that Laura was not in the nurses office, but Mr. Bestgen was. "Robyn." he said, not putting any emotion into his tone. "Thanks Mr. Bestgen." I muttered with a weak smile. For the first time in 3 years, I loved Mr. Bestgen. I gave him a quick hug and then retreated from the office and back to my locker. Not bothering to turn my phone off, I stuck it in my backpack and headed back for English. "What did he say?" Mrs. Turner asked when I got back. "Oh, he wasn't there." I mumbled, sitting in front of Erin in my assigned seat.
