• On June 24, 2008 i was at the beach with part of my dad's side of the family. We all went to a lighthouse, all the way to the top. We had a fun time. Then, my dad and a few other people wanted to go on a ferry boat. My cousins, my sister, and I didn't want to go to the beach instead. So, my aunt decided to take us. We were all having a fun time in the water and on the sand. One of my cousins, my sister, and I made a sand castle. When we were done, we decided to go in the water. We were riding the waves and having a good time. whee
Then, a big wave came and pulled us all under. When I was under the water, I felt something bang against my head. I thought nothing of it, and came to the surface. As I was coming to the surface, I put my hand against my head. Then i looked at it, it was covered in blood. My sister started screaming at me "*my name* Your head is bleeding!" Then everything started spinning as I was running toward my aunt. Everyone at the beach saw the small red truck looking vehicle coming toward me. As i was running, people were looking at me, including a guy that gave me his shirt to cover the wound. I was panicing when I finally got to the truck. Two lifeguards helped me. They gave me a head wrap to keep the blood covered T-shirt on my head. A 17 year old guy came over the the truck to ask if I was alright. It turned out he was the cause of my injury. He didn't have his leash attached to his ankle on his surfboard. So, when that wave came and pulled me under, the surfboard got pulled under also, then hit the side of my head, a little higher than my temples. eek
The ambulence took an hour and a half to get there; and an hour and a half to get back to the hospital. When I finally got to the hospital, I wasn't crying anymore from shock and panic. Two people brought me into a small room. Later, i got a cascate and went back in the room. I waited for about ten minutes and a nurse came into the room. She asked for information and left the room. Seconds later, a big woman came in and said that she was going to help me. She told my dad what she was going to do. Then, she reached in a drawr and took out a staple gun. My eyes grew big and she brought it toward me. Another woman came in and was very sweet to me. They both went on each side of me moving my hair out of the way of the injury. Then, the lady with the staple gun shot 14 staples into my head as I was hyperventalating. I was panicing until it was finally over.
Out of everyone, my mom was the most worried. We couldn't stop calling each other. 10 days later, I got the staples taken out of my head. That wasn't nearly as bad at puting them in. So, to this day, I am fine. Perfectly safe, and no injuries. I am a lucky girl.
