    Directions for Writing
Write a report to be read to your class in which you explain your idea for the new children's television show. Be sure to include specific details so that your classmates will understand what the new show will be like.

    My Television Show

tab Have you ever watched cartoons and kid shows on television? Have you ever thought that these programs are not for kids anymore because of all the violence and fighting? Well, I did. These so called kid shows are getting more violent by the day. The kid shows are not the only shows getting a little bit too graphic. The teen shows are also filling the audiences head with negative views and ideas. They now show kids smoking, stealing, and other disappointing things, which encourage our new generations to follow in their unfavorable footsteps.

tab If I were to make a television show, it would be appropriate, fun, and way less violent. My program would be something a lot of children would like to watch. It would also help kids by giving them tips, powerful ideas and positive views. The show will have little violence if any. It will also give fun and helpful advice in each episode. This will encourage a more positive outlook, therefore leading to the more positive actions in the future.

tab To emphasize, my show would be about children and their problems. The show would put children in a situation where they would have to choose right from wrong. First, the children in the show would be confronted by the problem. Following that, there would be a clip of what would happen if they chose the wrong thing and a clip of what would happen if they chose the right thing. After both clips are over, the child would take a couple of minutes and think about their situation and think about which choice is the best choice. The show would also set consequences for the wrong actions taken. At the end of every episode, children who experienced the problem could talk about what they did to change the issue and if they had a chance what they would do differently. This would inspire kids to make the right choices because they would have to deal with consequences if they took the wrong turn.

tab In addition to the lessons learned, my show would feature fun activities that children can do together while watching the episode. This includes activities such as arts and crafts, card games, and relay games. These activities will not only be fun for children, but will also strengthen them and give them exercise that most kids are lacking these days. The activities will also provide educational learning while the kids enjoy it. This will positively reinforce kids to watch my show, instead of flipping through channels and finding inappropriate programs.

tab In conclusion, parents and producers should consider what negative television shows are doing to children. They should encourage them to watch shows like mine, where they could have fun and at the same time receive positive influence and watch positive role models. Because kids are fragile at a young age, and the environment is very influential to them, they should have an positive television show that would give them a form of entertainment while teaching them good things.
