The best description I can think of for myself: The Stoic Villain of the group. Some villains cackle. Some villains scream. I’ve even seen villains shiver. But then there is that rare villain that just doesn’t do anything by quietly stand by himself and contemplate the world. The Stoic Villain is the bad guy that, be it because of their power, their upbringing, or their views on life, do little more then in their down time then silently move about, wandering and searching for…something. A stoic villain has to be pushed rather far for them to actually show any true emotions. By that, I mean that in most cases, even in defeat (be it battle or duel), they will simply stand and say, “Things will be different next time.” They have to be pushed very, very hard for them to yell, or scream, or even smile slightly. This type of villain is what some might consider a cold hearted villain a evil doer that does not care if innocents live or die…it is only them that they care about. But this is not the case. A true stoic villain simply looks at the bigger picture: Through their actions, good will come, and they are taking the easiest route. The hero is the villain to them, if only because the hero takes the longer way. 3 things to remember about this type: 1) Stoic villains are the type that will, more times then not, ally with a hero when a bigger evil appears. 2) A stoic villain will have some sort of connection to the world that makes them have a softer, gentler side. 3) A stoic villain easily becomes one of the most popular characters in a story, if written right, so do not attempt to write one if you don’t plan to keep them around.<br />
