Earthbending maintains a balance between offensive and defensive capabilities. Common attacks involve levitating nearby earth and stone, and propelling them at foes by way of a punching or kicking motion. A levitated slab of rock can also double as a shield when positioned in front of a Bender. are typically barefoot, presumably to increase their connection with the earth.<br />
Sandbenders are Earthbenders who utilize earthbending in a specialized style, which emphasizes the manipulation of sand. Because sand is sediment which travels in flows, their style resembles air- and waterbending more than earthbending.<br />
An Earthbender's powers are firmly rooted to the ground they stand on. Taking them any substantial distance away from the earth, such as on the ocean, strips them of their powers. Additionally, because of their inability to bend processed metals, the bending abilities of an Earthbender can be negated by securing them within a metallic barrier<br />

If you are a member of the Earth Kingdom, you may be lucky enough to be able to bend the element of Earth. Earth is the strong and stubborn element and the opposite of air. The people of the Earth Kingdom live on the largest continent in the world. <br />

Ba-Sing-Sai. It was ruled by a king who, until the Avatar and friends told him, was unaware of the war (idiot...). Earth is closley associated with the season of Spring. A Earthbender can magnitze thier limbs to rock to scale cliffs ect.., lift rocks above the ground, at high levels turn the ground into quicksand or cause a mini earthquake. Earthbending master Toph can skate on Earth by raising the Earth under her and pressing her body foward like she was skating. So far, Toph is the only Earthbender shown to be able to bend METAL because metal is just refined Earth. Avatar Kyoshi, born roughly 200-300 years before Aang in the Earth Kingdom. Benders who live in the desert have adapted to the terrain by honing their ability to work on sand, Sandbenders.<br />
