“ Help me believe it’s not the real me, somebody help me tame this animal I have become. I can’t escape myself .. “

Ken Joshima was birthed into the Estraneo Famiglia, a mafia family notorious for the creation of the Possession Bullet. ( Holding abilities like the Dying Will Bullet, this special bullet allows for the user to, when this object is fired, take full control of his, or her, opponent, gaining the use of their person as a whole. ‘Course, the wielder must not be faint of heart in order for the bullet to take full effect. ) Because of this and its assumed danger, other families held members of the Estraneo Famiglia at gunpoint, eventually murdering them. In a subtle uproar, researchers of the family decided to continue to develop forms of “weaponry” because of the shooting and loss. Thus, the children, Ken followed by Mukuro and Chikusa, as well as others, were used as lab rats, guinea pigs, “to fulfill the honor of dying in return for the family’s withering honor.”

Toyed with constantly, torn with scalpels, and injected with liquidation he knew nothing of, Ken gained scarring, particularly a major one resting from cheek to cheek, ear to ear, on his face, and segments of other parts of his body. But this is merely the physical aspect. He bears animal-infused powers, thanks to the experiments, by switching “fang cartridges” and having his body morph into the figure of the species he chooses to replicate. These are more commonly called “Channels.” ( An ape, lion, cheetah, opossum, and wild boar are the known ones, for now. ) Mentally, although seemingly-playful through his acts of innocence, his age, Ken hoards a killer instinct, not fearful of the sight of blood or even causing bloodshed. Infact, because of Mukuro’s orders, it is certain he has killed, or seen death, much more than he bothers to express. Again, even if he’s not highly-intelligent, Ken seems to mask his true attitude which awakens during the heat of battle: a serious battle of life and death.

Loyalty to Mukuro:

Saved by Mukuro Rokudo plenty, who eliminated the entire Estraneo Famiglia and rescued him from imprisonment, Ken gained admiration for the illusionist. Ken views Mukuro as a master, his master, his view of a role-model. Acting like a puppy, Ken will remain obedient, half-way, around the male, growing depressed when he cannot earn Mukuro’s attention or when he performs a mistake that deserves abuse in the end, or becoming excitable when complimented by the other. Always, always, will Ken call this man “Mukuro-sama” or “Mukuro-san.” Unless, of course, he slips up and uses “pineapple head” without thinking. Lastly, Ken will risk his health for Mukuro, even going so far as dying in his place.
Friends with Chikusa?

Finding Chikusa Kakimoto boring, and often times annoying, Ken gains delight teasing the quiet one, excreting his obnoxious behavior and having the four-eyed youth chase him around everywhere. He has rewarded Chikusa with the nickname “Kakipi,” which he barks often, or will justly throw any type of insult to rile his stoic comrade. Reckless at heart, Ken is constantly chastised by the beanie-clad boy, treated like a child for his immature antics, but without Chikusa, it can be stated that Ken would be lost, constantly, and possibly suffer from growing starvation and loneliness.

A crush on Chrome?

Not if he’s in earshot when someone assumes so! Often times, when the weak-orientated female is around, Ken blushes or becomes shy for brief moments, depending on how Chrome acts, but he immediately chews her out for holding Mukuro back or being a nuisance. Ken insults the young woman plenty, bullying her when he can but, deep down, does care for her. ( She’s sort of like that one puppy in the litter that appears malnourished and has no chance of living, but pulls through in the end because of help from its brothers and sisters. ) Normally greedy with his snacks or gains, Ken eventually surrenders his “prizes” and shares with Chrome, but not without a nasty scowl or set of words to make her feel bad.

Extra facts:

Ken’s birthday is July 28th, making him a Leo. Those born on the 28th of July “possess a personal code of ethics and a strong belief system. They have a great need to win and often hide their emotional vulnerability behind this showy aspect of their personality. They are likely to receive their greatest satisfaction in life when spiritual aims supersede materialistic ones.”

Bathing is something Ken dislikes. Immensely. He chooses to bathe only once a week, or takes months to, and does not possess the best hygiene. Chikusa is often the one to spray him with a water hose, after luring him in with food and drenching him with soap, along with M.M. Ken is too embarrassed to have Chrome offer a helping hand.

When sleeping, the blond rests on his sides and has his legs in motion constantly, his arms joining the action, as if he is running on all fours in his dreams. He often snores loudly, too, or drools (but this happens when he’s awake as well), and can pretty much sleep anywhere, be it hardwood floors, rocky surfaces, or moth-eaten furniture. Mostly floors. Gives him more room for his nighttime activity of tossing and turning.

Ken enjoys snacks of all types and is very stingy about sharing them. His favorite snack? Peppermint-flavored gum. He loves food in general though, but has zero table manners. ( Elbows on the table, talking with his mouth full, etc. )

Typically, his sentences will end with “byon.” Force of habit.

Also, when speaking, Ken has a lisp, his pronunciation of certain words bizarre as a result of his fangs.
