No theme. I just haven't been on Gaia in a while and I wonder what people now think of my avatar once I bought some new things. I wanted to give him a sort of very powerful but friendly wizard look. The brown face tattoo may not go too well with that theme, but I've had that since I first made my character, and I'm not about to change that fundamental part of him.
The arm and wings are meant to be soulfire constructs (see Dresden Files).
