The untold story of this samurai onnagata
His actions soon lead to his own karma
He betrayed his loyal sensei
By breaking the code of the samurai way
Taking on another beau
He was then brutally killed
Ending his wanton rendezvous
His blood was spilled
He used to play his shamisen
For his sensei & other men
After his tragic demise

- After the death of the apprentice, his soul could not rest. He turned into a youkai (specter) and bothers swordsmen at night. First he’ll start playing a sweet melody that soothes the ears of swordsmen. Then, the music gets creepier and weirder. He begins to pluck the strings of his instrument hard, producing a bizarre sound from his shamisen.

- As he gets closer the music gets louder. No one else can hear the music, only swordsmen can. All of a sudden, he appears right in front of his victims. Swordsmen usually run at the site of him and confuse him with being a woman since he always plays his music while dressed as a kabuki opera actor. He’s come to be known as the Merodikku Onna (Melodic Woman).

Sensei: Teacher
Onnagata: Woman-role (men that play female roles in Kabuki Theater).
Kabukikageki-shuho: Kabuki Opera techniques (my character mixes Chinese Opera and Kabuki Drama together for his shows).
Oyama no Bushido: Female Impersonator (another word that kabuki actors are called) of Bushido (samurai moral values).

Now he wanders around old streets & dojos
He was greatly skilled in kabukikageki-shuho & kendo
No rest for this dishonest oyama no bushido
At night he plays a melodic sound
As it gets closer to traveler’s ears
It gets eerier & more profound
As he nears, he then appears
He’s come to be known as the Melodic Woman
