- Actually the slippers are silver in the book, and they were originally going to be silver in the movie, but the filmmakers decided on ruby as the color because it shows up better in Technicolor, which was the new color movie process at the time.

- I agree that it shouldn't have been given the place it got. It doesn't resemble Dorothy in the least and, even in '08, there were better items that could have been used instead.
