Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg was a German army officer (who never joined the Nazi Party) and a central figure of the German Resistance movement. He was one of the leading officers of the failed 20 July plot of 1944 to kill dictator Adolf Hitler and remove the Nazi Party from power in World War II Germany.
He's being portrayed by Tom Cruise in the upcoming movie Valkyrie, out December 25th.
