• One Christmas morn` I look down to see,
No presents under our Christmas tree.

Instead of gifts, a note is left,
As I begin to read they all hold their breath.

    "To this family of dread,
although your tree is of green and red,

    "Above it reads, "Merry Christmas",
And for this I shan't fulfill your wish list,

"There will be no bike for Manny,
Nor a doll house for Annie,

"And no gifts shall be `brung,
And no bells will be rung.

    "You have disobeyed the rules,
    Don't be hat headed fools!

"Now, I am of the my sleigh,
And remember next year it'll be a 'Happy Holiday'."

And with this we all sighed,
the children sat down and they cried.

"They shall never forget this year,"
My father said as he shed a tear.

    "They will remember today,"
    And forever dread this holiday."

Remember, my darlings, that Santa will hear,
'Merry Christmas' and take all you hold dear.

So bite your lip! Hold your tongue!
And maybe next year the bells will be rung.
And your hearts shall all cheer.
