• "Grandma-Grandma!" I shouted, "Come and see!"
I pointed out the window toward the big oak tree.
"I got a good look as it whizzed by
I saw a reindeer, and the reindeer could fly!"

"Now my dear child," grandma smiled,
    "Your imagination's just running wild.
I've heard and seen a good many things
but I've never seen a reindeer with wings."

"A reindeer with wings, how silly." I said,
"He was flying a helicopter and it was red.
Its propeller spun a about a million miles an hour.
I saw a reindeer flying, using chopper power."

"And I saw someone sitting by his side.
It was Santa Clause going along for the ride.
He was wearing green goggles and a tiny parachute.
As they zoomed by he gave the horn a toot."

"O' Saint Nick?" grandma grinned as she rolled her eyes,
"Are you sure it was Santa behind the disguise
and he was blowing the horn all by himself?
To believe this, I'd have to see it for myself."

She walked over, peeped out the back door,
turned and shouted, "Quick--hit the kitchen floor!
Oh my gosh--- They're spinning out of control,
get down low, as low as you can go!"

The chopper crashed through the back door.
Jetted passed us with a growling engine roar.
It spun a loop-d-loop and ricocheted off the wall,
bounced off the refrigerator and crashed down the hall.

The back door groaned as it teetered to and fro
flipped on it's side, barely missing grandma's toe.
"Oh my!" grandma gasped, "That was a close call."
"Are you two all right?" she peeped down the hall.

The reindeer and Santa climbed out of the wreck.
"I told you to turn left" said Santa rubbing his neck.
"I did" said the reindeer, "but you should have said right"
"Now hush" grandma scolded, "please don't fight."

The reindeer's eyes lowered, "Just look at your things."
"Don't worry" Grandma smiled, "It's just a few dings.
That's just an old fridge, that still works fine,
with a tub of ice cream in its freezer, on which we can dine."

So we ate ice cream for the rest of the afternoon.
I slurped chocolate chip from out of my spoon.
The reindeer and Santa felt like welcomed guests
and you know what, this Christmas was my best.
