and "l_tai_l" the flood can infect beings larger than a rabbit they have infected elites and humans but grunts (who are smaller than humans and elites yet larger than a rabbit) cannot be infected they can be killed by the infection forms but they cannot actually become a body host that comes to life - Report As Spam

the hunters are made up of thousands of tiny worms that are all linked together via a hive mind; which is why the cannot be infected by the flood. The flood can only infect beings with sufficient bio-mass, things roughly the size of a large rabbit.
