STORY LINE
A couple kids of a small unknown city became orphans all on the same day. How? The military blamed the city of making a powerful weapon against them. Of course the information the military has obtained was true, yet it wasn't quite exact. The children are in fury that the military bomed the city because of such an assumption. Years passed since the incident of the bombing. A bombing of a flourishing city which is now just ruins. The children grew up hard, trying to keep themselves alive. They assisted each other and did whatever they could to live. Each child learned a different ability, an ability that would help them live. One became a Thief. Another learned Swordsmanship. The others, a Healer and a developing Mage. The four were the bestest of friends until the day the military came back. Why? Nobody knew. The military has come to hunt the remaining people in the city. Why now? Everyone had wondered. Why 10 years after the bombing? The group split across the city because the military had almost caught them, each on running in a different direction. They pray they will see each other again. Alive. For now they take the help of some caring military members, but each one try their hardest to not fall in love. For if they fell in love with a military member, only bad things will come of it. Though most of all, it will be the hardest to get out of the situation. [Story belongs to FallenTime]

Quail sucked harshly at his cigarette, his white fingers pressing to his cherry lips. "I hate this," he whispered to himself. "I hate this." He was sitting atop a grassy hill, his legs bent just enough to let his elbows rest upon them. Beneath him, his unit had infultrated a small city. He was far enough so that all the screams and shots were only low echoes. Unfortunatly he could see everything; childeren, women, men, even dogs running from his elite force.

Looking up at the sky Quail tried to wonder if he would have been happier if he did indeed stay with his cruel family. He held in the warm gust of smoke, breathing a bit between his clentched teeth. "I wonder," he said again to himself, "I wonder if these people are really how they tell us they are." A small chuckle escaped his lips, along with deep clouds of smoke.

No foot steps could be heard as she walked. She had become so good at being stealthy that even when she did not try to no one could hear her coming. Even the breeze seemed none existant as it blew swiftly, mingling and separating the strands of hair the fell along the profile of her face.

Sayuri Watanabe was an unexpected dog of the military. Her skilled markmenship was remarlable for someone who had only been trained for a few months in the last year. She was a natural and immediately was expected to do great things to help in the military's war efforts. Her ranking officer had just given her orders to over see a raid that was occuring as they spoke in the city that they had flattened a few years back. She was glad to go see the progress and give a full report on what was happening except she knew that this was not something someone of her rank usually did. Still, she agreed to it and set off to find the one who was leading this "raid" on the city.

Slowly, she made her way through the city, watching people scurry about as military soldiers and officers of similar rank went on with their business destroying what was left of the city. She quietly mad her way out of the cities furthest reaches and headed into the fields to the north of it. Even as she went she knew she would find who she was looking for. She circled the large hill that over looked the city and came up from behind, seeing the leader, a Mr. Quail Duran, of whom she had never formally introduced herself to before. "It's a beautiful sight, don't you think?" She said softly as she came over the rounded edge of the hill. She was behind him, coming closer until she was almost standing over him. "The havoc only a small elite division can cause...it's simply marvelous." She said with a smirk as she placed her hands on her hips and continued to look out over the city. Sayuri was an intelligent girl but she could sometimes have a very twisted view on things. Still, she had her moments of compassion, but this wasn't one of them. She may have been a military brat at one time but she had since then grown up into something similar and yet so different.

Quial was startled by the women, but he didnt let his body react to his suprise. He wondered how she had managed to not make a sound, he himself couldnt do it. He hoped that she hadnt heard him talking to himself, it was a bad habbit recently developed. But he pushed those thoughts away quickly, instead he again pressed his quivering lips to the half gone cigarette, "Indeed, this division does have power over these poor people." he said threw smoke. He followed one of his men as they stood over a small girl, beating her with a branch. Her painful cries reached all the way up onto the hill, and rang hollowly in his ears. His other hand had dropped down into the grass beside him, he clutched the dirt to keep from panicking. He forced his crystal eyes up and did his best to look at the golden women. "May i ask your name dear duchess?" he asked smoothly, "Or should you have me introduce myself?" He let the smoke curl from his lips after the sentence. He knew he should know this women, but he was never one to study into his job. He may have flipped threw her file once, but if he did he really couldnt remember. This annoyed him slightly, just enough to be curious about her age. She looked to be younger than him, and he was ashamed to be such a coward compaired to her. Trying to calm himself, he took another deep drag.

Sayuri smirked and lightly laughed to herself. She was somewhat surprised that he did not already know her name. Still, she was definitely not in shock. She didn't often aquant herself with members of the opposite sex if there was a possibility of them ever coming into contact again or even working together at some point in time. "I will do the honors of introducing myself first." She said almost smugly as peered down at him. "My name is Sayuri, Leutenant Sayuri Watanabe. But, I'm sure there is no need to be formal at this time, so you may just call me Sayuri if you'd like." She said softly. She slowly walked up to his side instead of standing behind him. "And I'm guessing you're the leader of the little group attacking that village, am I right?" She asked quickly before inviting herself to take a seat next to him. She leaned back on the palms of her hands and glanced over at him. "Well? What's your name? It would help me a lot to know when I write up my report on today's events. Oh, and that reminds me, I'll need a full report from you when this is all over, incuding stats on your team and the "work" they've done on this place." She said before laying all the way back and closing her eyes. She seemed very nonchalant(sp?) about everything, like this shouldn't be a problem for him.

Sayuri was hoping that she would've gotten a better view form such a high place but alas, she could only see what was happening like they were specks. She sighed disappointedly and dropped her head to the side. She was growing bored with the military she worked for, always doing the same jobs. Still, she knew nothing else but the military life and so she did her best to keep it interesting. She longed to go down and help with the fighting, but her job was supposed to observation. Not only that, she had not brought her favorite gun with her. All she had was a small pistol and 10 rounds to go with it. "What a drag..." She said softly as she stood up and started to pace impatiently.

Quial followed her shadow along his feet as she made her way next to him, his stiff hand released the grass and he placed it back into his lap. "Its a real pleasure, Sayuri." He said after hearing her speak, "And I am Quial Duran, the leader of this division." He nodded swiftly, "You will have your report, you can be sure of that." He smirked slightly when she started to pace before him, he began to wonder how her feelings worked. She seemed to be a child but worked with such bloodlust. "Are you a masochist?" He asked almost innocently and unconsciously, then somewhat gasped as he realized that his question was a complete insult. "Please," he tried to force a laugh but choked, "Forgive me. My mind it wanders." He couldnt think of a good excuse, and a ball began to form in his throat. He tried to swollow but it was no use in trying to push it down. He forced himself to stand, he let his ciggarette slip from his fingers and drop down into the damp grass. He stood just above her but she still seemed so powerful. "Please," he said again, "forgive me." Quail locked his hands across his back, bowing as low as he could before her.

Sayuri stopped her pacing and looked at Quial with curiousity. She loved respect, especially from those who she saw as an equal. Stiil, she found his bowing somewhat annoying. As she placed her hands on her hips she glared at him. "Raise your head, Quial...I like the fact that you would show me the respect I deserve, but your bowing seems pointless from my point of view. It keeps me from seeing the emotions you wear on your face. You can always tell what someone is thinking by looking at their face. So please, quit that bowing as I accept your apology." She said as she let out a sigh. She was speaking in a tone no higher than that of a child, her voice soft but stern. She paid no heed to his height or the obvious fact that he was strong and old than she was. She cared not for any of those trivial thing. It was obvious he would be an equal to her in her eyes and she would treat him as so. As long as he did not disgrace himself with another moronic question like the last one.

Quail nodded, biting his bottom lip as he raised his head. "Thank you." He managed to say, but again his mind had wandered and he was thinking about his father. His piontless bowing would have pleased that cruel man, Quail cursed himself for thinking the same with this girl. Trying to change the stail mood that floated in the air he turned his vision down the hill toward a small riot. "Perhaps we should lend a hand." Quail said almost casually, he lifted his right hand to grasp one of the large guns strapped across his back. His fingers wrapped around the smooth metal of his sniper rifle and he tugged it loose from its strap. Quial seemed spaced as he marched his way to the very top of the hill, he layed down and placed the butt at his shoulder blade. His blue eye adjusted into the scope and saw what seemed to be a reble among a pack of military dogs.

Sayuri smirked. It was as if he had read her mind. Still, she felt out of place without her favorite sniper rifle. "I'd love to, believe me...It's not what I was sent here to do but I'd still enjoy it a great deal." She said before watching him go to the top of the hill and lay down with his gun, looking through his scope. "Unfortunately, all I brought along was a close range pistol. I was not planning on lending a hand until now, since I see that your men are having troubles with the rebels." She said this in confidence. She knew all about the four rebels that were left in the main city they had bombed years back. She figured they would be causing trouble, but not enough that she would feel as if it were necessary for her to help out. "It appears you have a type of sniper with you though. And it looks like you can handle yourself quite well with it. Atleast, it appears that way..." She said softly as she walked up to the top of the hill. She was tempted to go down into the city and face the rebel on her own terms, face to face. At the same time, she wanted to see what Quail was going to do next. She wondered how well he could work the sniper rifle, his aim and such.

Quail felt her move about him, he flicked his eyes in her direction hoping to catch a glimps of Sayuri but couldnt. "My men are amatures." He said to her as he adjusted the lens. Inside his heart begain to quiver, should he shoot the boy? Or should he miss? He chewed on his bottom lip, this conflict would be trouble some, his choice crusial. Quail lightly shook his head to clear his mind, again he focused into the view of the scope. He saw a boy charging at men while swinging a sword, most of the men backed away. While others seemed to think they could take the boy on by sure numbers. Idiots, Quail thought angrily. He snapped a gold bullet into the chamber, and desided to concentrate on the boys sword.

Sayuri watched him carefully as she crossed her arms across her chest. "Hmmm...I see..." was all she could say about his comment on his men. If they were any good at what they were supposed to be doing the rebel would've already been handles and they would be going back to their business. They seemed to be goofing off and she would definitely be putting this part into her report on the events of the fight. Choose wisely, Quail...You may only have one shot to do what is right. I hope you know what that is... She thought to herself. She would've already taken the shot. She usually aimed to injure when it came to those who she was not directly ordered to kill. By this point she would've already shot for the rebel's upper thigh or either of his arms, then shot off another close range shot that barely misses to show the severity of the situation and hopefully scare the opponent off into a retreat. It that didn't work she would take the kill shot. This was her of course, though, and not Quail. She could tell he seemed to be struggling with a decision by the way he was somewhat fidgeting instead of shooting. She had a feeling about Quail, but she wouldn't adress it until she felt it was time. For right now, she would let him concerntrate.

Quail cursed under his breath, shifting his weight in order to keep up with the boys movements and speed. He still wanted to disable to boy, so his aim was still squarely on his sword. Quail squeezed tightly on the trigger and he flexed his bicept to absorb the rebound. His shoulder only jumped a couple of centimeters and in less than a second he saw the boy's sword shatter just above the hilt. The now free fractured peice metal sailed threw the air, landing tip first into the ground not far from the boy. He didnt wait for the sound of his shot to stop echoing and in an instant Quail had loaded another gold bullet into the chamber without breaking his gaze, his fingers moved nimbly as he cocked the rifle again. He took a breath as he waited for the boys next move, only this time Quail was aiming for the boys head. He hoped that the boy would just keep running and he would not be forced to take his life.

[ Ray paused his running and looked at his sword. His gaze traveled to the broken tip and he got a thoughtful look on his face, walking over and yanking the tip out. His eyes turned to face where the bullet had come from, and he narrowed his eyes. He turned slightly, pointing the broken tip towards the gunner. With a wink he mouthed, "You're next." He then calmly walked off between two buildings, out of shot range. ] -Played by CrimsonFangs

Sayuri's eyes followed the quick bullets invisible trail and watched the little figures reactions to the bullet. She was happily surprised by Quail's marksmenship. For a while she thought he would never pull the trigger but she was hastily corrected. "I'm impressed..." Was all she mumbled out in her soft tone. Her hands were loosely clasped together behind her back like a soldier at ease. She waited to see what Quail would do next since he had shattered the boy's sword. Sayuri would've most likely already tried to kill the boy but she usually regretted her hasty actions later. Inside she secretly felt bad about the killings she's committed but it was her job and she did it almost perfectly every time.

With a slight sigh Quail eased off of his rifle, he pushed off the ground at his knees and stood with his gun in his hand. His hands quivered quite a bit, and this was odd because Quail would only tremble after a shot. During however he was completely still an in focus, not a muscle out of place. "Well, it appears that i have yet another enemy." He said, breaking the silence. Quail wasnt a lip reader but he could very well tell what the boy had said. It was very unlikely that the boy had even the slightest idea of who Quail Duran was, but still the boys threat had made him just a little jittery.

Sayuri noticed him trembling and sighed softly to herself. She wasn't sure as to why Quail was trembling so much and in the back of her mind she wondered to herself, but she figured it stupid to ask such a question when the answer was so obvious and yet so unpredictable. Since he had broken the since she figured it best to continue with some sort of comment atleast. Absolute silence was one thing she hated most. "Well, you know what they say...Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Those rogues can be something of a problem, and they're not half bad when it comes to their strength from what I've heard and seen now with my own eyes. I'd be keeping an eye on that one if I were you..." She said as she looked off towards the city once again then, turning her head back towards Quail, she smirked a crooked smirk and eyed his trembling hands.

Quail noticed her gaze and quickly moved the rifle to each hand, snapping the golden bullet from the chamber. He placed the bullet into a small pouch on his shoulder, and the rifle back into the strap along his back. "Ill ask my men about his strengths, and get one to follow him. He is a very curious character to attack a military squad alone. Please excuse me." Quail began to walk down the hill, where very close to the bottom one of his men sat. The man was startled when he caught sight of Quail and quickly jumped to his feet in a salute. Once Quail nodded the man relaxed a bit, and then picked up his radio. Quial took the resever, and glanced up at Sayuri as he spoke. "This is Captain Quail Duran- requesting transmition, OVER." A harsh buzzing sound echoed from the phone before a reply came, "TEN FOUR. This is Assistant Captain Grant Castue- I am receiving your transmition, continue with your order. OVER." Quail shook a ciggarate from his pack, and placed it to his lips. "TEN FOUR. I would like you to follow that young man. Send one of my best trackers, most likely FISH or ROCK. OVER." Another long buzz, "TEN FOUR. I have recieved your orders Captain Quail Duran, I will have ROCK sent right away Sir. OVER." Quail lit his ciggarette casually, "TEN FOUR. Wait for further orders, OVER." "TEN FOUR. Yes Sir, we await further orders. OVER." "TEN FOUR-END TRANSMITION." "END TRANSMITION." The buzz from the resiver stopped with a click and Quial handed the man back his radio. With another nod Quail marched back to the top of the hill where Sayuri was standing. He greeted her with a smile and took a long puff from his ciggarate.

Sayuri smirked and watched as he took another hit from his cigarette. "I see you took my advice to heart...Or maybe great minds simply think alike." She said softly as she allowed herself to flop backwards onto the grassy hill. She had nothing much to say to him, feeling that her job was too easy in this case. Usually the others of whom she's supposed watch and write up her reports on are reluctant to accept the fact that a girl that is both younger and more inexperienced then them was sent to watch them. Still, she was not that surprised by the way Quail acted, since she seen that he is a reasonable person and doesn't do things in haste but instead does things in respectful moderation and seems to take his time and only do things that were necessary and nothing else. Atleast, that's how she saw it.

Quail let the smoke slip from his lips, it curved slowly up and he breathed it back in threw his nose. It a curious trick and not being able to see himself, Quail never knew if he was doing it right. But he guessed it was about right, since he could feel and taste as the smoke as it entered back into his lungs. All threw this he eyed Sayuri, she was pleased and that was all he wanted. Before she could catch him watching her, he turned his gaze back down the hill. Where he saw his man ROCK, aka Ramon Orgin Castio Kite, making his way threw the same exit the boy had. It was ways off but Quail could tell it was ROCK. Because ROCK was also a curious character, he was the only one in the military aloud to have a mohawk. And this was only because he was one of the best trackers, it was a small privlage* that Quial gave the man. But still, the man's hair always forced a smile to Quail's lips.

Sayuri felt Quail's eyes on her whether she saw him or not. She could tell he was watching her, even if it was only for quick glances. After a while she turned her head towards him, becoming bored and trying to find something to say. She noticed that he seemed to be smiling, or at least, it appeared he was. "What are you smiling about?" She asked him quickly. Her voice was stern but not in a demanding way. She was simply curious, that was all. Her eyes tried to follow the trail that seemed to lead from his eyes to some where within the city, but she couldn't see what ever it was that had made him smile. She shrugged her shoulders and simply eyed him questioningly, waiting for an answer.
