• 10/1/20 - The state is still on fire with over 3 million acres burned, but it seems the area that I'm in is still safe. I'll update here probably until fire the remaining fires are contained.
• 9/4/20 - Hey, just checking in to let everyone know I'm alive and stuff. Sorry again for the lack of updates. The fires are over 80% contained at this point. Everything should be fine now as far as safety.
• 8/26/20 - Sorry for the lack of updates and entries lately. It looks like the fire situation is slowly getting better. The air quality is better and the sky had some blue patches. I could even see the mountains again. There were minimum lightning strikes from the last storm, so it didn't make the fires worse. I think everything's gonna be okay soon as long as there are no excessive high winds. The two major fires are 30 and 33% contained now, and I haven't gotten anymore evacuation warnings. Some warnings and orders were even lifted in nearby counties. I'm going to remain cautious, but optimistic. If anything changes, I'll be sure to update. Sorry again for the lack of entries. In addition to these fires I'm dealing with something in my personal life, but I do hope to write again soon.
• 8/23/20 - Well, the largest fire is now 10% contained. It's not great, but it's better than yesterday. The smoke is still bad, but I haven't gotten anymore warnings or evacuation notices, so that's a positive. Supposedly there will be more lighting on Monday and Tuesday, which is really bad. If there's no rain with these storms again, there could be more fires. I'll try to keep you posted as I learn more.
Hey, guys. I'm really sorry that I have to post this here, but something urgent came up. Normally, I don't break character here, but I feel it's necessary for me to say this. I might have to evacuate soon. It's not set in stone, but I just got an emergency alert. I live in California and the state is currently engulfed in flames with little hope of the current fires being contained any time soon. It's crazy. I literally couldn't see the sky today because of all the smoke, and ash is falling everywhere. It's getting harder and harder to breathe.
With that being said, please, don't worry about me. If I do end up having to evacuate, I have a few plans. I'll continue writing journals for as long as I can, but if I do have to leave, you may not hear from me for a while. I'm really sorry to have to bother you with this, but if anything does happen, I didn't want to disappear indefinitely without anyone knowing what happened.
If I get anymore updates, they will be posted in this entry. All other entries going forward will be strictly for Genis.
I guess this is a good time for me to voice something else that's been on my mind. I've said this before maybe two years ago on my profile, but I wanted to mention it again. I've always written these journal entries for fun, but at some point, I realized that people are actually still reading them after all this time. That absolutely blows my mind! Though I do make these entries mostly out of boredom or when I'm feeling inspired, I really do appreciate that people read them. Thank you so much for going on this unofficial, post-Symphonia journey with me. It really means a lot.
Also, I used to do "announcements" in my about section on my profile, but I can't do that anymore without messing up the journal links on my profile. Sorry for the lack of updates if you used to keep up with those announcements. I really hope Gaia fixes that soon...
Anyway, I'll try to keep you posted here. If I have to evacuate I'll let you know, unless I literally have no time to write you a message before I have to leave, which is a possibility. I live less than an hour away from the ocean, so if all else fails, I'll try to make it there and stand in the ocean. Honestly, that's probably the safest place to be.
