So, it turns out this guy really is me from the future. He wouldn't tell me exactly how old he was, but he looks a bit older than me. Let me start off by saying that I'm really disappointed that he isn't much taller than me. Also, it's weird calling him by my name even though he technically is ME, so I've been calling him "Genius" instead of Genis. He seems indifferent about it, so I'm gonna keep calling him that.
Anyway, none of us are exactly sure how he ended up in those ruins, but he was trying to travel back in time to the place where Sheena and I were training. It turns out that he isn't here because of the portal incident. He came to stop me from using the new arte I've been working on. He was the one who altered my mana and forced me to use Time Stop instead. That stunt he pulled almost killed us both, but I'm actually grateful for it.
After what he said, I may give up on the arte entirely. According to him, he successfully used the mystic arte after Sheena and Celsius helped him train. He said that soon after that, he tried to put more power into the arte but ended up losing control and hurting someone he cared about in the process. They've been in a coma ever since and are now on the verge of dying.
I tried to ask him who it was, but he teared up and refused to tell me and Raine. We wanted to ask him more questions but decided not to press him for now. He was still recovering and it seemed like the conversation took a toll on him mentally, so we decided to let him rest for now.
Mithos did warn me yesterday that the arte I was using could be dangerous and that I shouldn't put too much power into it. If Genius hadn't come to stop me from learning that arte before I got advice from Mithos, I could have done something horrible... I have a lot of questions for him, but it'll have to wait for now...
