Chapter 3 : "I Wonder..."
'Damn..." I scowl behind my mask.
I glance behind me and I eye that boy. I studied his blue streak in his hair. I lifted an eye brow at the girl that was yanking on his arm. He look at me with a fire in his eyes. I quickly look away, flustered.
'He made me lose concentration." I hissed under my breath.
I felt eyes drilling into my back. I peek behind my shoulder, and he was still looking at me. His eyes didn't lose their intensity. His face creased at the cheeks. He pursed his lips, as if he was trying to figure something out. I turned my head away from him , and observed the other refugees. They all look either dazed, or glassy eyed. I look forward, and realize that we are only about 20 feet from the dinner hall.
"Audrey..."
I tense at the voice. I glance around. I stop, and turn my head.
"Did you hear something?"
They all look at me, confused.
I have the temptation to look at the boy, who was skeptical.
I turn and start walking again," My mistake. The dinner hall, is right over there. I must depart now. Enjoy your stay here in the village. And just know you all are safe. "
I roll my eyes, and think," Why am I so formal when it comes to complete strangers?"
I bow, and roll on my heels.
As I walk away, I hear foot steps behind me . I turn, and I saw Makina. This is the second time Iv'e seen her in her formal dress. Her white, and silver hair flowing. She was wearing a black and white dress.
"We need you in HQ. Now." she said to me.
"Why...?" It was a pathetic question.
Am I going crazy? I haven't felt so... alive in awhile. Iv'e never felt any of these emotions before. Fear... confusing... nervousness...disgusting.
"We have "chi" radiating from the Whisper."
I tense up. The Whipser was obtained over 100 years ago by a ninja names Hou Shi. He killed one of the 5 Gods of Chaos. Now there are 4. The Whisper is the heart of the Darkness God.
'Alright."
I followed Makina away from the dinner hall, and across the Moshiko bridge. We stopped in from of the palace gate, and Makina lifted her palm. The gates opened. We entered through the front doors into a large lobby. We turned right, and Makina typed in a code with a key pad on the door in front of us. I felt nauseous as the air rushed by me.
'Audrey.... Audrey..." I heard the voice again. Sallowing hard, I stepped in.
