Siryn's Random thoughts and verbal creations (also known as rants) This is the stories that play in the back of my mind. The worlds I disappear into when I can't stand this one anymore. I hope you find joy and humor in them as I have.

I wake in the waters of fear—
Breath erratic and unsteady.
An ice casket formed around my chest.
The sheets in a lump—
Moonlight turning the folds
Into faces cruel and twisted.
Frozen in a familiar fear—
No relief in light to be found.
The terrors from my nightmares,
Flowed and flooded
The sanctuary of reality.
Every creak and pop
A sinister hiss or gnashing teeth.
Senses narrow and expand
As instinct washes reason away.
I find myself upon my feet—
Daring in my quiet manner—
For the darkness of fear
To make its move.
Much to my surprise,
The darkness starts to swell and rise,
And I discover the truth of ages past:
We are bigger than fear—
Smaller than darkness.

This started as a writing exercise, but I revamped it and think it's much better as a poem.
