This month's Donation Items are the Sno Yeti Pillow Plush or a Nitemare Parasol.
Must Have Rating: 4 out of 5
Early Bird Special I think it is safe to say that releasing donation items three days in advance surprised everyone. It make sense if you think about it. The admins and staff members probably wanted to be with their families this holiday weekend. Too bad. If I know Gaia, something is going to break while they are away inturrupting their turkey day.
Dark Umbrella? WTF? Judging from the thumbnail, you would think that the Nitemare Parasol is some kind of sword that turns into an umbrella. To be frank, there are not many positions that even suggest it could even look like a sword. But there is one mode that makes it look like a sheild from the front.
The default mode for the parasol is as a held item. As such, you can hold it in all of the various hand combinations. This leads to a position on each gender that is rather suggestive in several perverted ways. I'll let you figure that one out. Unfortunately, for some of you at least, this mode doesn't make the umbrella look like a word. Not in the least for any gender.
The second mode is a single setting known as Open Mode. Here, the parasol is fully opened, but is in front of the avatar. This way, the ubmrella looks more like a sheild. Thing is, it takes up the same arm as the Demona Guitar when it takes over your arm. So, yeah, no strange demonic cyborg sheild for all you Demona arm fans. To make up for this, the Open Mode Parasol twirls when you walk around Gaia Towns. Though it kind of looks like you're walking with a giant buzz saw, it's a nice touch.
The last mode is called Shelter Mode. Here, you hold the umbrella upright and open like you're suppose to. While it's a nice mode, it pretty much cancels out the need for a hat of any kind. Most of the hats I own had layering issues and looked like it was coming through the umbrella rather than sitting under it. This mode is natrually best suited for those that don't like how their avatars look in hats.
I'm expecting the Angelic version to make its debut some time soon, and probably with the Demonic Bracelet.
Are we SURE it's a plushie? Anybody who has been keeping up with the S CORP guild automatically knows what this plushie is all about. For those that don't (all 4 of you), this little guy is a yeti. Yetis are known more commonly as the Abomminable Aboniminal Abombinal white Bigfoots found in high snow-covered mountains all over the India/Asia area. While kind of creepy, these plushies are kind of cute, actually.
The thing is, this item doesn't really act like a plushie. See, with the CoCo and KiKi plushies, you can see the stitching. On the Sno Yeti, you can't. The various modes you can have this item doesn't help either.
The default mode is known as Chillin' Mode. Here, the little yeti sits on your head looking all nice and relaxed. This mode is similar to the default modes of the previously meantioned cats plushies. The yeti just kind of, you know, sits there.
The next mode after that is called Head Warmer Mode. Here, the yeti helps keep your body heat from escaping by laying on your head instead of planting its butt on you. Its arms flop over to each side, make the yeti look like of like an AFK hat. It's a nice alternative and seasonal hat, making it a must have for questers of the AFK and BTK hats.
The next two modes are kind of the same. Leg Hugger and Leg Rider Mode both feature the yeti hanging on to your back leg. The only differance is one is hanging on for dear life and the other looks to be imagining its on a mechanical Rodeo bull. When you walk around with them by your legs, the yeti lets go of your leg and walks behind you. It also lets go when you sit down.
Guild Me Mode has the yeti at your side with you holding its hand as if it was a little child. This post alone is very cute and is probably the main selling point of the item. It's just too cute to describe in words, so I'm not going to even try. Just like the previous mods, the yeti will let go of your hand when you sit down, but I wish it still held your hand whenever you walk around in Gaia Towns with it in this mode. It only makes that more sense.
The final mode is called Lifted Mode. As the name implies, your avatar ends up carrying around this little baby yeti wherever you go. The thing is, you don't carry it like you would the KiKi or CoCo plushies. Because of its size, you carry the yeti as if it was kind of like a small child. The position you carry it in also looks as if you are picking it up to place it at some higher plane of surface like a high-chair. Cute, but at the same time kind of awkward.
Now if only they would release a Grunny plushie.
I smell another price hike! I don't know about you guys, but it appears the Nitemare Parasol just can't really compete with the Sno Yeti Pillow Plushie. I mean, normally, Nitemare items are cool looking. But it's really hard to make an umbrella look cool, especially a black one. The cuteness factor the Sno Yeti has just completely over shadows the item it is coupled with.
Still, three things are going to happen as a result of this month's donation items. The first and most obvious is that people will start suggesting to make Grunny plushies and Angelic Parsols. For all we know, those are probably going to be December's Donation Items. Speeking of which, that brings me to point number two. I'm expecting prices to go up to the point where I will be lucky if I can continue doing these critiques. Remember that the items from last month determin how much the letters will be worth before they are opened the following month. And lastly, I know I'm going to see more and more signatures with little yetis in them naming them as if they are pets. And seeing how you can't see the stitching in these plushies, it wouldn't surprise me if people thought that they were pets instead of plushies.
Well, at least I got what I wanted. *pets his little yeti* heart
