Silent Night, Snowy... Flight? One is black, one is white. Crown yon head with thy snowy grace. Slay thy foe with an ebony blade. Which of these shall ye hoard? Which of these shall ye hoard?
. . .

Snowbird The Snowy Feather is essentially that. You're giving a lot of white items to mess around with and a few option as far as clothing. The thing is, a lot of the options available are also found in other items.
The default option is as a feather pen that your avatar can hold in their hands. Nothing really impressive here, but you will find a few positions that make the feather look like a clown about ready to tickle someone's foot.
Hair Flourish gives your avatar an old fashion feather-and-pearl hair band. This design is very similar to the flappers from the American Golden Era when Prohibition was on the books. Creative users will no doubt figure this out and will make it a point to construct an avatar with a similar look. Expect the Long Drag to go up in value slightly on the user Marketplace as a result.
Feather Crown may look odd, but that is only if you are not familar with the ballet Swan Lake. The crown is actually designed exactly how some productions give the prima ballarina. The reason it may look odd for some avatars is because of how it is normally worn in real life. The crown sits above the hair line of the dancer, and her bun is purposely positioned to balance the visual weight created by the crown when facing the audiance at a profile. Gaia ballarinas will want to use this mode and maybe pick up something very decorative that still reads like a ballet costume. I suggest the Sugar Plum set.
Snow Mantle covers your avatar's should and neck with a large amount of feathers to the point of rediculousness. I've seen Carnivale costumes pull this off better. That said, good luck making it look good, as the amount of volume is difficult for me to figure out what looks good with it and what doesn't. I think it may have something to do with the fact that the mantle drops close to the bottom of the chest on our avatar while still being able to go high enough to reach the bottom of our ears.
Feather Gown gives your avatar that flowing gown that has a dove motif to it. Ladies, be advised that the split is kind of high and is in the front, so you may want to cover up unless you feel like giving otherwise *ahem* reasonable gentlemen something to blush about. This may prove difficult, as there are not many skirts that have the same design flow as the Feather Gown option. At least not many that don't actually replace the dress. There are some really brillent combination potential if they would just allow it to be layered with the Biancamella.
Probably the largest option that nobody will wear is Gilded Cage. As the name implies, your avatar is shoved into a bird cage. It even has a perch for you to sit on! But given how bulky it is, I don't see anyone using it any time soon unless a layering glitch presents itself so that it looks like the Hermes' Moon rabbit is being kept prisoner.
Speaking of animals, the feather's origin is from a creature known as a Little Snow Bird. It is available for you to hold in your arms. It is also a member of the ever-growing "On your head" club started by Kiki. It's a cute creature that rivals the current stage of the Fallen Wish, but that's only if you don't want/have the snow owls from the Enchanted Tome books.
Overall, the item is realtively useless. The only new options could have been sold as separate store items, and there are other options to the gown and mantle that are more flexible than what this item offers. Only two of the options present themselves currently as alternatives to exisiting items or options, but their design is nothing to write home about. But someone will find them appealing in one respect or another, which is probably enough to justify the price tag. Maybe.
A Dark Night The Silent Night would be a Christmas item, but it clearly isn't when you see what options it holds.
The default setting is as a black-bladed sword. The design of this sword is actually slimmer than the black sword available from the Pawn Chess Set and more streamline than the Death Whisper. The blade is kind of short, but that doesn't matter since you won't be able to use it against any monsters.
Embellished Mask, the second option, is one part Mod Squad Mask, one part Zorro Mask, and one part P. Urn. If you are a fan of the Urn evolutionary item, then pick this item up for this option, as it matches so well with the other black options from the earlier stages that I'm surprise it wasn't part of the whole package.
Ranking Uniform gives you a military top similar in style and design to that of those Dark Ages bad guys that are the head of the king's military power only to ultimately off the king in front of the prince causing some plot of revenge in the name of the crown. And it surprisingly looks really good with an Armored Roc mount. As well as the Dark Elf shoulder armor, Ebanezer's sash of metals, and several others. It's a shame the only black pants that I found that could match it in aesthetic was the Ninja pants and the Amigo pants, but maybe that's because I'm not looking at all my dark items and just concentrating on black. Still, it is a very classy top.
Half-Cape is an option that I think a lot of users wanted for a while but never came in black. We kind of have a white option of it with Fallen Wish, but you'll have to wait for that item to finish evolving to access it if you have the first generation. Much to my surprise, I was able to make a convincing Bull Fighter outfit using this item as the cape. Oh, sure, it's not red, but it still looks right. I was also able to make an industrial age British style avatar, so all you people wanting to dress like a random Dickens characters that don't have supernatural powers, this cape is better than the Colonial cape released several Thanksgivings ago.
Starry Night is a background where your avatar floats among a sea of stars among the night sky. Twilight fans now have a background for them to use that mirrors the movie posters!! And people that like to dress up like space troopers or fly around in the Mini UFO have a background to make it look like they are in space!
Much like the Snow Feather, Silent Night has an animal option called Grackle. I know, it sounds like a snack. But it's a bird that has similar options as the Little Snow Bird. It also has an addition option that I'm personally not fond of, which is it frozen in the air in flight. It is this option where you can see why it is part of this item, as its tail feathers have a starry night motif when fully spread. You can kind of see it while it is in the other options, but not as well as you can when it is frozen in flight near your avatar. While similar to the Raven from the Enchanted Tome, it's not as intrusive to your avatar's face, which is a good thing. It looks like we may have a replacement item for that option.
Overall, this item suffers from the same issues as the Snow Feather. There are a few items that could be released as shop items, but what new options available are probably worth the price if you collect backgrounds or capes. Now, normally I would say the saving grace of the item is the uniform top, but as well designed that item is, I still see it being sold as a very expensive shirt at Edmund's shop, or even in the Cash Shop.
The Pen and The Sword If Monthly Collectibles were to end and replaced with more lucrative items like the Evolving Items, I personally would welcome it. This month's items, as well as the last several months worth, have been rather dull. I find myself only wearing them once and then shoving off to the side until something comes around that matches it.
That said, this month's items are just more fuel for this movement.
