Not very Halloweeny So we get the blue ninja scarf that everyone has been wanting since the red ninja scarf we got as well as what appears to be an addition to one of the currently evolving items. If you have to chose between pixie dust in an hourglass or a ragged blue scarf, which would you pick? Not like it matters since I know which one is going to be bought in bulk due to the high demand.
Kung Fu Blues The Kong Sang Scarf is going to be hidden neatly away in the Accessory tab instead of the Top tab where its counterpart can be found. This is mostly because its wearable options are some kind of scarf.
The default option gives you the option of wearing it as your usual wrap-around scarf. As the scarf moves closer to the edge, it becomes more ragged. It's similar in design to the Cosmic Scarf but offers more of a Nitemare feel to it. And given that both of those items are rather up there in price right now--the Nitemare Scarf in particular--this option offers a nice alternative to those who have resigned their quest due to the impossibility of completing it.
Rumble is the second option. The scarf still wraps around your neck, only this time with not the same flow. It takes a rather aggressive design as if the scarf is preparing for a fight. If used with equally sharp-edged items, this hard aggression can be curved to look like an over-starched split cape. It is here where you see the first evidence that the scarf has a kind of menacing hand design towards the ends, as the Nitemare elements from the previous option end up disappearing for a more supernatural aesthetic.
Monkey's Claw, the third option, causes the scarf and its eerie hands to wrap around your avatar in a design that suggests it is trying to take over your body. Or protecting it just in case you want to believe it actually likes you. The Nitemare vibe comes back with this option, but it is at the expense of the ninja quality that this scarf is based off of.
Kung-Fu Heroine gives you a pretty little bow on the back of your head very similar to the heroine bow given with the CN Scarf. The big difference besides color is the design of the bow. The bow itself is more angular with sharper points at the top. The tails appear to be shorter, possibly due to the torn design on the ends.
Drunken Mask is essentially the same mask as the CN scarf, only blue with, again, the torn edges to give it the Nitemare feel. Unlike the CN Scarf, you can see out of BOTH eyes, as the hole is larger.
Charge, the final pose, gives you more of a shawl than a scarf. It defies gravity by hovering around your avatar in a way that is both mystical and kind of sexy. If you've kept your Gothic Veil in your inventory hoping for something to accent the teddy option, you've found it with this item.
Overall, this item harkens back to the days when collectibles were actually consistent in both design and concept. The various options you can pick still maintain the scarf design while offering options that are not exactly scarves in nature. It is also very flexible with other items, though it tends to favor the blues and blacks more. It's a worthy investment if nothing else.
Mr. Sandman, dream me a dream. I have this odd feeling that Dreamer's Dust was a reject Evolutionary Item due to its lack of wearable options. That isn't to say that this item isn't wearable. It's to say that don't expect much out of its great design.
The default option is a hand-held hourglass that contains the magical dust of Dreamland. I find it odd that you can only hold it in three different options. But as a hand held item, it just feels rather ordinary in this option.
Endless Time gives you a giant hourglass to carry on your back that looks similar to the Fausto's bottle's early evolutionary stage. If you turn your avatar around, you'll notice that the sand is coming out from both the top and the bottom of the hourglass, essentially causing time to slip into infinity. It's a beautiful design and a hint of things to come for this item.
Sandman's Crook, as the name suggests, gives you a crooked walking stick with the hourglass at the end. The magical dust emits a powerful light to guide your way during the sleep-filled night. You're also given a companion of sorts in the form of a white butterfly.
Night Cap gives you an impish hood with a very pleasing starry night design. While it doesn't look like a night cap in the traditional sense, it does offer a hood that has night theme to it, making it quite the costume center piece if you can find a matching top and pants for that Venice Carnival look that we will get once the P. Urn is finished evolving.
Dreamer's Gown gives your avatar a semi-see-through dress meant to stimulate fantastic dreams of fantasy. It's a very fantasy-based design and one that female avatars will come to enjoy as an alternative to the pinker version found in the Bianc. evolutionary item. With the skirt being see-through, one can use this as a top for a formal bottom in several creative ways that I can only imagine.
Wings of Dreams, as cheesy as that name sounds, is what the Fairy Wings should have been. Remember that white butterfly from before? Well, imagine it larger and sitting on your back. That's what you get with this option, and let me tell you. It's stunning.
These little butterflies have an option of their own as well, where several of them take shape from a pile of dust swirling around your feet. When I was looking at this option, I began to believe that this item was suppose to be an Evolutionary Item. It just feels like this would have been a stage at one point in its cycle, not because there's nothing here you can work with, but because it just has that kind of feel aesthetically.
The final option is a Dreamland background. For those of you who have the Enchanted Book and cannot wait for the final stage to come around so you can have the castle background from the previous generations, this option will tied you over. It is unique in that it is the first background I've seen produced with a defined frame as a border, but it still offers that similar ivory castle that sparkles with the stars.
Overall, as disjoined as this item feels, it still has the visual appeal of an Evolutionary Item without the need to wait for all the options to unlock. If you are looking for something like that, then this is the item for you.
Fighting Dream Both items are very strong in both aesthetic and in giving the users what they've been wanting for a while now. Both items will appeal to some group in Gaia, as well as be complained about. But from my perspective, this month's items are probably the highest quality items we have seen this year that do not rely heavily on gimmicks or aesthetic fads that may or may not be going on right now. It is a very pleasing turn-around for both the artists and for the users who continue to invest in these items despite the months we've had of moderate or poor quality items.
So, yeah, get both.
