Chapter 1
My body didn’t allow me to move. I wanted to run and scream, but no sound came out. My mother started walking towards my room and shouted along the way. “Yan-yan! What takes you so long just to change your clo –,” She broke off. Her body became stiff, and she dropped whatever she was holding in her hand. Her eyes were fixed on my closet – if you could call it a closet. Unlike me, she found the strength to speak, even though she trembled though her words. “I –I’m going to call the police… right now.”
Outside the window, the sky itself turned dark. Curiosity always makes me do the things I never want to, so of course I went to the window to look outside. The sky was as if it were night, but there were no stars out. No moon, no clouds, not even the sun – just this dark shadow that seemed to cover every bit of the sky.
The shadow was black and it took the form of a dagger with a snake slithering around it. A centaur strolled up beside me and said “That’s the Shadow Mark. They know we’re here.”
*This isn't all of chapter one, and as you could see, it's pretty short for a chapter O.O
