Journey through the Realms
Chapter 14:

Jarl Igmund was able to find someone to take the girl in. Muiri was more then happy to take Fjotra. Muiri has been looking for something to keep herself busy. With that taken care of, Evelyn shows Artemis around. She was still allowed in the museum, the guards just glance at her, but say nothing. Artemis moves slowly, looking around. He's still a bit wry of the automatons, even the smaller ones. It's a large collection, all coming from Nchuand-Zel. But they had to stay in this room. There was a door, but it was locked. There were more guards now after she broke into it. Not that anyone knew it was her. She just smiles and waves, but the guards ignore her. Once they were done looking around they head out of the keep. She follows the stairs down, soon passing an abandoned house. She shivers as she walks past it. "Problems?" She turns her gaze to Artemis. "That house once held a shrine to Molag Bal...have you read about him?" He runs his hand through his hair. "I don't think so." "He's one of the Daedric Princes. He's mostly known as the one who created the first vampire. I won't go into details on how." Most people know the stories, but it's so unsettling. "He's one of those do not anger types..." She gives one last look to the place, shivering once again before walking. She's more then happy to leave Markarth behind. A bit of walking can do her some good but Shadowmere follows her, giving her a nudge. She chuckles slightly as she pets the horse as she walks. "I spoil you."

She lets out a low sigh as she walks. She feels drained, even after getting some sleep. It's more mental then anything. She just wants a simple job where she can stab someone. "Is it to much to ask for something simple? I mean, I still kind of want to stab Ragnar..." She shakes her head slightly. "I just don't understand people, you'd think the minute you hear 'I'm married' you'd walk the other way..." It's just something she's never been able to understand. "Some people don't have morals.." Her head tilts to the side as Artemis walks beside her. "Of they get it into their heads the fairy tale is real." Her mouth twitches at the thought as she frowns. "I guess, you're so blinded you don't see what's really going on." She tries not to think about it anymore, it's giving her a headache. They walk for a good while before they decide to ride back to Dawnstar. The tiny walk did do her some good. It's several hours before they make it back, but it feels good to be home. Nazir looks up as the two assassins walk in. "So how did it go?" She lets out a deep groan. "Don't ask, it was hardly worth it. I didn't even get to kill anyone." He rises his brow at her. "Don't ask...I mean it..." She turns as she makes her way up to the Night Mother. Nazir turns to Artemis. He decides to explain what happened while she went to go 'talk' to the Night Mother. Cicero was busy cleaning some of the melted wax when she got there. She takes out some paper and a ink pen before sitting down by the corpus. Cicero can't help but watch her work, how easy her hand moves as she writes. She doesn't seem aware of what she puts down until she stops. She lets the ink dry as she looks over the new list.

She blinks as she looks over what the Night Mother just told her. "I have no idea where this is..." She holds out the new contract to Cicero as he takes a look. "Japhet's Folly?" Cicero scratches the side of his head. She takes the contract as she makes her way back to the main common area. "Nazir, have you heard of this place?" She even shows him as he runs his fingers over his beard. "I think so." They have to pull out a map to try and find this place. "Here." It's northeast of the Collage. "I've never heard of this place before..." Evelyn isn't sure what to make of this. "Well if someone preformed the Sacrament it's our job to look into it." She turns her gaze to Nazir. He lets out a deep sigh. "Fine I'll look into it. I need to break in some of the newer members anyways..." He slowly gets up as he wonders off, Cicero was more then happy to follow after him. It's not quiet night, but Evelyn heads off to go find Babette. She finds the little vampire, sleeping on her stone bed. How anyone can sleep on rock is beyond her. Babette slowly wakes as Evelyn hands over a contract. "Got something for you as well." Babette looks over the contract. "Ohh fun, it's been awhile since I've had a job." She was always eager to do something. Once she makes sure everything is taken care of she heads for her room. She flops down on her bed and covers her eyes. Evelyn doesn't even bother removing her armor, she just needs a moment. Artemis isn't sure if he should bother her, but for some reason he's gotten so used to following her it's almost a habit. "Tired?" She sits up quickly. "Not really." He pulls up a chair as he sits across from her.

"It's like this weird mix of tired but knowing I'm not going to get any sleep." She's had a few hours of rest, it's been nice to not have the same dreams constantly. "I guess I just have to much on my mind to shut it down.." She sits on the edge of her bed, her eyes on him. "Hell I don't even know where to start." She pauses for a second. "I'm starting to think I should pay you. Just send me to the sanatorium and lose the key..." Her brows slowly move down. "I think there's still one around, but I'd rather not think about what they do there..." She waves her hands a bit. "Sorry I really don't mean to drag you into this.." He just offers her a half shrug. "I think I would have been able to handle this better if I had known. But hell I didn't even know I was Dragonborn until that dragon attacked the watchtower. How would you even warn a person about something like that?" She lets out a half hearted chuckle. "At least the visions make more sense. Still to think I WAS a dragon is just mind blowing..." He's not sure what to really add to this, but he just lets her talk. "Leave the power of dragons to a dragon..." She lets out another chuckle. "No kidding, it's so crazy it makes sense. Now if I can stop hording books I might just pass as normal." "Nothing wrong with being well read." It helps him in the long run to learn what he can of this place. "I've been borrowing them." "Ah that's fine, not like I really notice. Hell you could help yourself to my gold and I wouldn't notice." She honestly doesn't care, if someone needs it more then her. They can have it. "As long as I don't grow horns I guess." She even takes a moment to run her hand through her hair. She blinks, realizing how long it is.

She can't help but toy with it. It's a old habit is when she's stressed. And right now that's how she feels. So she can't help but run her fingers through it, brushing it out. The tips of her hair curl, but it does that. "It's strange to think, but I'm kind of glad I don't have to explain this to my parents." It's weird to think that way, but she is glad she doesn't have to have that talk. She gives up after awhile. She feels so lost at the moment. Like she just doesn't know what to do with herself now. "We could travel, I mean that's what we've been doing so far. Forget all this work and I can just relax and show you more of Skyrim." He's seen a good chunk of it, but he hasn't seen all of it. "I just promise no more ships." She smiles at him brightly. He just lets out a low huff. "It's hard not to think I'll just end up somewhere else..." He didn't expect to end up here after all. Given time he'll get over it, but the memory is still raw in his mind. "Fair enough." She wasn't about to judge him. She hangs her head a bit. "I feel restless, but it's like I don't even know what to do with myself. There's all this possibility I don't even know where to even start." He rises slightly as he walks over to her. "Take a deep breath." She turns her head, but takes in a slow deep breath. "One step at a time, you're mind is all over the place you'll run yourself into the ground." She takes another breath as she nods. She needs to ground herself and at least she has someone here that understands where her mind is going. "Sorry, I'm okay."

"I've had a few years to get used to the idea." He slowly joins her, sitting at her side. "It's still confusing my mind to think I will live longer then any elf." "We're human, we're not meant to live longer then a hundred years at best." She shakes her head slowly. "Unless you're a vampire and neither one of us are in that boat. I'd rather not be a vampire..." She likes the sun to much to become a full blown night owl. That and she doesn't want to have to worry about finding blood all the time. "There's really not much we can do to change the fate we find ourselves in. And in time I think I'll be okay with it. It's just so much to take in..." He nods his head slowly, keeping his eyes down. He was only looking at a longer life due to poor choice. She's looking at a long life because she has the soul of a dragon. If she had never battled that first dragon she would have never known. "Wonder if it's possible to become the crazy cat lady. Start taking in stray cats, make them an army..." Artemis turns his head to her slowly. "What at least I'm throwing out ideas." "I would think you'd take in children." She lets out a snort. "I'm not that mean. I just take them in because I know damn well most people wouldn't think twice about it. Some weird need to have your own or some crap people go through..." She lets out a breath of air as she rubs the side of her head. "Besides they deserve a normal life. As normal as anyone gets really." She stops for a moment. "Hell what would be considered normal?" He doesn't really have an answer, neither one of them had a normal childhood after all.

She blinks as she opens her bag, pulling out her Black Book. She almost forgot she had it on her. She needs to return it to her room with the others. "I've seen a book like this, almost like it." Her head tilts to the side. "When I was traveling with Jarlaxle, ever heard the name Zhengyi?" She lets out a low hum. "Hmm no." "He was a lich, a powerful one. He left behind powerful artifacts. One was a book that was able to construct a castle. Jarlaxle tried to take it over, make me 'king' but it mostly backfired..." He shakes his head slightly at the memory. "I'm still not sure what he was thinking..." "What happened to the book?" "Jarlaxle burnt it so no one else could use it again." She snaps her fingers. "Darn, but maybe it's for the best. Never heard of a book that can create things...how big was the place?" "Big, not sure what became of it.." He's not even really sure he cares at this point. "Wonder if there was a connection between that book and this one?" She runs her hand over over it. "Oh well, some things are better off hidden." She gets up after awhile. He decides to join her as she teleports herself into her room at the collage. At least he's getting more used to everything shimmering when she does. She just heads up the stairs to her orb and lets herself into the highest part of the tower. After replacing the book in it's place before coming back out. She may as well grab a few things for Babette while she's at it. As she takes out a few dried flowers out of her chest, someone walks in. "Arch-Mage, you're here." She glances up to see Tolfdir. "Hello my old friend, do you need something?"

"A few of our mages left to go check out Mzulft, but they haven't come back. They were only to study the Oculory there, but I'm not sure what may be keeping them." "Alright, I'll look into it. I'm sure it's nothing." He gives her a warm smile. "Thank you my dear." He wonders off as Artemis turns his head. "Oculory?" She taps her chin. "You know that construct that held the Elder Scroll, something like that. Some do other things however, this one lights up like the night sky, or so I was told. It wasn't working properly because of the Eye of Magnus...long story." "So you have no idea what it really does?" He rises his brow at her. "Well..." Her mouth twitches to the side. "Kind of, but maybe that's why they sent a few people to study it. I know there's one in the old Mages Guild that mapped out the night sky. You know the stars, so they all do something different.." She turns as she starts to walk. The fastest way would be to teleport to Windhelm then head south. She may as well, since she wants to get there quickly. "No one really knows why they were made, or how." She makes her way downstairs and out the door. She turns to the Hall of Countenance as she heads up the tower to the set of orbs. She holds out a soul stone and soon they were outside again, in Windhelm. As they start to walk she turns to him. "So I take it you had no interest in being king.." Artemis narrows his eyes slightly. "I never agreed to it. Jarlaxle was always thinking of something. I think his main goal was to somehow set up a network above ground with his mercenary band he lead. But he always went to far..." He pauses for a moment. "Ever heard of Crenshinibon?" She shakes her head slowly. "What is it?" "A crystal, created by liches. It looked small, but given power it would create a tower in it's likeness. It controlled the minds of those around it for it's own purpose."

Her eyes go wide at this. He holds out his hand as they walk. "There's more, Jarlaxle had stolen it, because he thought he could use it. Of course there's no such thing and it took me awhile to convince him to destroy it." She shakes her head slightly as she looks ahead. "Sounds like using it would be a bad idea. Even more so to think you could control something that powerful...why is it always lich's though?" "I wish I knew.." Once outside the city she follows the path south. It wasn't that far to Mzulft so there's no point on using a horse. That and she likes to walk sometimes. She's sure whatever is going on isn't to bad. "It sounds like you've been through a lot, I'm surprised you haven't gone completely crazy." "I often wonder what kept me grounded. Given everything I went through with Jarlaxle." He rubs the side of his head slightly. "It's been better since I handed over Charon's Claw, I never realized how badly Idalia's flute mess with my mind.." He's not normally one to admit to his weaknesses. But unlike some people he's known she won't use that against him. It's still a strange thought just how much he can trust her. It's a first, and he's slowly starting to come around to the idea. Slowly, of course, there's only so much he can change about himself after all. She glances down to the sword. It's been quiet, as if it gave up on trying to reach into her mind. But she'll still keep her guard up just in case. As they moved more south, the weather started to change. It's wasn't to cold, which was a nice change. Once they reach a point in the road she turns off the path to a tower. "Here it is, Mzulft." She lets him in, knowing the fastest way to the Oculory.

He stays close, the only sound is steam and the sound of pipes. It really doesn't take long to get to the Oculory. Once they get there, she finds that the place is empty. She blinks as she looks around. The only thing here was a few bedrolls and what looks to be an old firepit. Artemis looks around the large room. She heads out the door, down the hall to where Falmer once lived. This to is just as quiet. "Oh this is all kinds of creepy..." She pulls out her sword as well as her own dagger. Artemis follows her closely, keeping his eyes open. "There's nothing here.." It's dead silent and there's to trace of the mages that came down here. "Lass." Her aura Shout settles as she glances the area. She sees nothing, which only puts her more on edge. "There's got to be a trace of some kind as to where the mages wondered off too..." Artemis finds a door that lead to a different part of the area. She follows him, knowing it mostly leads to a dead end. However when they reach the last room she sees a tunnel she's never seen before. "That's new.." The dirt looks resent as she pokes her head in. It looked deep, but she can't tell where it goes. "Well, might as well see where this goes.." She leads the way, the sword allowing her to see into the darkness. "Can you see okay?" "Sort of.." She summons a simple mage
light as she keeps walking. She only hopes to find her missing mages soon. She really doesn't want to be down here longer then she needs to.
