Journey through the Realms
Chapter 13: {Today's mod brought to you by Daedric Assassin armor. [X] and Vlindrel Hall [X] }

A night of drinking seems to do Evelyn some good. As well as several hours of sleep. She actually feels refreshed when she wakes up. Still everything she had learned started to come back to her. She has no idea how to handle this right now. So for right now she shows Artemis around Solstheim. Most of the island is covered in strange plants and volcanic ash. She follows the shoreline when they come across a small group of Netch. Artemis looks up, watching them. "What are those?" "Netch, they kind of remind me of cows. They just do their own thing." He tilts his head, watching them closely. "How are they flouting?" Her mouth opens for a moment then closes. "I...don't know...hell I don't even know how they eat.." As far as she knows they don't have mouths. "I have no idea how these things work the way they do. They're so odd and they only live in this area." She offers him a shrug, not really knowing what to tell him. She shows him around a bit before making the trip back to the docks. Artemis stays near the middle of the boat like last time. She still feels bad for the guy. Once they return to Windhelm she moves slowly as she decides on what to do with herself. Maybe heading for Dawnstar wouldn't hurt. It's been awhile since she's check in with the Brotherhood. Once they leave the main gates of the city she makes her way to Shadowmere. "Lets go home boy." The horse lets out a snort as he takes off. Artemis is quick to join her as he rides beside her.

Several hours later they're in the Sanctuary. It's quiet, and she feels at ease here. It's like she can just be herself here and not have to worry what people may think of her. She takes a moment to talk to the Night Mother. She writes down a few places that needed to be looked into and hands it over to Nazir. She just needs time and space. She needs something to do, so she heads for the smithy room. She still has a ton of left over ebony ingots, fire salts, and even Daedra Hearts. She taps her chin before looking for Artemis. He has no idea what she's up to, but she has him stand still. She grabs some messaging tape and has him hold out his arms. "I'm going to make you some new armor." He rises his brow as she holds the tape over his hips and writes some numbers down. "What are you planning?" He jolts a bit when she goes lower. "You'll see." She's quick at least, which he's thankful for. He's not sure he's comfortable with her going that close to his loins. Or anything for that matter, but she seems set on making him some new armor. She gets to work, without saying another word. He's not sure how long this was going to take. So he pulls up a chair and just watches her work. He has no idea how this all works, but she seems to understand it. He sees a small bowl of what looks to be red ash and takes a closer look. It's labeled as 'fire salts', it even feels warm to the touch. She holds out her hand. "I need that." He hands it over. "What is fire salt?" She picks up some ebony and starts to shape it. "Flame Atronach drop it, it's like a fire spirit that mages can summon. They're very useful in a fight, they always hit anything that comes after you." She looks around a bit as she works on the armor, piecing it all together slowly. He crosses his arms, he's never really watched anyone make armor before.

She looks at what she wrote down as she makes sure not to make the armor to big. He's much shorter then she is so she has to keep that in mind. She doesn't want to make the armor so big it would just fall off him. So she takes a few extra minutes to make sure she's doing this right. "I just need to remind myself I'm not making this for myself. I mean the good news is making armor your size isn't that hard. I just need to remind myself your...well short." He huffs at this, keeping his arms tightly around himself. Most people were taller then he was. the only people he ever felt like he fit in was the Drow and only because they were barely taller then he was. "Sorry I'm not trying to be mean." He just shrugs, it's not like he can really help it. It takes several hours of hard work, but she holds up a set of Daedric armor for him. However it's not the same as heavy armor. She made it lighter and easier to move in. "Here, try this.." He removes his leather armor to try it on. It's a little bulky, but it fits his form much like the leather armor. It's thicker, but he can still move quietly. He even test it out a bit, moving this way and that. "Does it move okay, I've made Daedric armor before, but I never tried making it lighter." He glances at his hand, turning it this way, then the other way. "Might take some getting used to, but it's....unlike any armor I've used before..." She turns and pulls something out, then hands over a cloak. Much like the armor it has this blackish red glow to it. He's almost afraid to touch it in fear it will burn him. It is warm as he straps it on. "I enchanted that one, should keep you warmer in the snow." "Can you enchant the rest of the armor?" "Yes, given all the soul stones I have. Just tell me what you would like and I can add it in.." He gives it some thought. "I'll think it over." He still has his gauntlet as he pulls that out.

"Think there's a way to combine this and this?" He holds out the gauntlet he's currently wearing. She takes his left gauntlet as she looks it over, before looking to the one he had. "This is the one that takes in magic and turns it against mages right?" He nods his head to this. "The only thing that can counter the magic in Charon's claw, just in case." She tabs her chin. "I'm sure there's a way, but doing so will destroy this gauntlet. Are you okay with that?" "Yes." She gets to work, finding the strongest soul stone she has on her person. She takes the magic from one gauntlet and places it into his new one. Doing so does break the old gauntlet. But he has a new one. She hands it back over to him. "There, now you won't have to switch anything out you can just use this one. Less time, less hassle and it's just as powerful." He slides on the Daedric gauntlet, flexing his fingers for a minute. He really does like the feel of this new armor. "What made you want to make this?" "I don't know, I think I just wanted to take my mind off things for a few hours." She runs her hand through her hair. Which was a mess by now. "It's just so....overwhelming. But I guess in a way it makes sense." She lets out a deep sigh. "Still, I feel like this whole thing is giving me a headache." Cicero leans is head in. "Something wrong Listener?" She turns her gaze to the jester. "Oh, no I'm okay." He wonders in, handing her a small piece of paper. "Nazir was going over some of the contracts. He wants you to take care of this one." She looks it over, sometimes when she writes these down she doesn't really remember what she writes. It's more the Night Mothers doing. "Karthwastern...." She has to stop and think where that is. "That's in the Reach..." It even takes her awhile to find it on her map because it's a really small village.

"Alright, I could go for a job right now." She wouldn't mind taking her anger out of some poor b*****d. Artemis is more then ready to go so she didn't even have to ask. She heads outside and jumps onto Shadowmere. "Lets see, the fastest way to get there would be to head for Solitude, then Dragon Bridge, then head south. I just hope we don't miss it because, it's so out of the way." She had found the place by mistake the first time. "Once we get there, I'll have to ask around for a Enmon. It won't be to hard to find the guy." She heads for the road, Artemis following after her. She slowly makes her way off the road, knowing a faster way to Solitude. As they ride Artemis turns to her. "How did you learn to enchant armor?" She glances up as she rides. "Um..." She holds onto Shadowmere tightly as she thinks it over. "Uh.." Her mouth twitches as she thinks it over. "s**t I don't remember. It's just one of those things I picked up over time. I started with weapons and that was easy to figure out. How I figured it all out was I took an old weapon that did fire damage and broke it down. Once I learned what gave it power I was able to enchant other items and so on and so forth." "Do in order to learn something new, you have to break it down?" "Yes that's the jest of it." It was going to be a few hours before they made it to Solitude, another half hour to get to Dragon Bridge. The road in between was normally quiet. Once they hit Dragon Bridge they head south. She slows down just a touch, following the signs to Karthwasten. It was very late into the night by the time they made it that far. She jumps down from Shadowmere, her legs feeling a bit shaky from the long ride. A few people were gathered outside, talking about something. She moves slowly, not wanting to scare them. "Is something wrong?" A Breton miner turns to her. "Yes, who are you?" "I'm a Companion, I may have taken the wrong turn. But if there's anything I can help with.." He beams at her as he holds out his hand.

"I'm Ainethach, I own the mines here. Seems no one has seen Enmon in awhile. We tried to get in his home, but the door is blocked.." She shakes his hand lightly. "I'm Evelyn, I'll look into it for you." The small crowd go back to work as she turns to Artemis. Unsure of what to make of what was going on she heads for the small house. She tries the door, sure enough it feels like someone placed something heavy on the other side. There's no windows for her to try and climb into. Which leaves her the upper balcony. "I'll lift you up." Artemis agrees as she gives him a boost, he leaps up and catches the ledge, pulling himself up. Once on the ledge he tries that door, same problem. "s**t.." This leaves her with one option as she takes in a deep breath. "FusRoDah!" Her Thu'um hits the door hard, shattering it and anything behind it. Artemis drops down beside her. "Hey we tried." She kicks the door a few times as she makes her way in. Seems someone places a bed against the door, as well as a few items. "Hello, Enmon?" She walks around slowly, all she hears is this odd creaking sound upstairs. She heads up to see a man hanging from the rafters. It seems he was trying the Black Sacrament. Seems he murdered his wife, then hung himself. From what she can tell he's been up there awhile now. "Well...s**t..." There's a book nearby as she picks it up. It's been left open on a certain page. "It's dated three years ago, my little Fjotra, when I felt you growing in me I feared the worse. Enmon can't know you're not his. He's none the wiser, but I feel bad for letting Ragnar think I'd leave my husband." She lets out a deep sigh at this, but blinks. "s**t where's the kid?" She glances around, but she hears nothing. Fearing the worse she takes a breath. "Lass." She can see Artemis clearly, but her eyes travel down. "Found her.." She heads back down stairs to a small cabinet. She opens it to find a poor scared little girl.

She looks so tired, seems she tried to get out, but wasn't really strong enough. She looks up, giving a small sniff. "Oh Gods...sweetheart, it's okay.." Evelyn holds out her arms and poor little Fjotra runs to her, holding onto her tightly. The girl sobs softly as Evelyn just rubs her back. "Shhh...it's okay, you're safe now..." She holds the poor kid tightly as she glances around. She hears this slam and they both turn to see a angry looking Nord. "You shouldn't have come here." Evelyn glares at him. "Ragnar I'm guessing..." She places the girl down, stepping in front of her. She draws out Charon's Claw, the sword glowing slightly. "Let me guess, you wanted to play happy family, but your lady love wouldn't leave her husband. You finally had enough and found prove the kid is yours. It backfires, Enmon goes a little nuts and, well here we are." Ragnar frowns at her as he holds out his pickaxe. "Or, Enmon forgave his wife and tried to use the Sacrament to get you out of the picture. You snapped, and created this scene...am I close?" He lets out a rage filled yell, coming at her with his pickaxe. Poor thinking on his part as she just swings out Charon's Claw, cutting the weak weapon in half. He stalls as he stumbles back. The head of the pick falling to the ground. "You picked the wrong person to fight." He's about to make a run for it. "GolHahDov!" The Shout hits the man and he finds himself stuck in place. "Stay..." He turns slowly, his whole body shaking. "You have a lot to answer for I think, shall we go get Ainethach?" Artemis nods and heads out to go find the man. Her eyes remain on Ragnar. She lets out a low tisk. "Never sleep with a married woman.." He lets out another growl. "Fjotra is mine, I should be able to raise her." The poor girl is hiding again, this time behind Evelyn's legs. "She's a child, you had no right to step in like this." Artemis returns with the old Breton. "Go on, tell him what you did.." Ragnar grunts, but turns to the old man. He has no choice but to obey her after all.

Ainethach is beyond stunned by this news. "We have no where to lock him up.." "Oh don't worry, I'll be more then happy to take him to Markarth. I'm sure they can use more people in the mines." Poor Ragnar starts to panic. "No, anything but that. I refuse to be sent there!" She knocks him out, sending him to the ground. "Well looks like you don't have much of a choice." She ties him up and throws him onto her horse. Ainethach looks at the house before looking at her. "I have no way to thank you.." She waves her hand. "No worries, just be glad I can't tell my left from my right. I'm just not sure what to do with the kid.." Evelyn isn't about to leave her here. "I'll take her to Markarth, with any luck she has family that can take her in.." She bows her head to the old man and turns to leave. She walks beside Shadowmere until they get far away enough from the small town. She picks up the little girl and sits her on Shadowmere. She shoves off the other fellow, Artemis can keep an eye on him on Blackfire. "He tries anything, feel free to give him a good stab in the liver." Artemis was more then happy to agree to that as Evelyn hops onto Shadowmere, letting Fjotra sit in front. "Do you have aunts, uncles?" The little girl just looks up at her, letting out another sniff. "Oh...never mind, we'll figure something out." She lets out a sigh as she makes her way south. Artemis follows after her, keeping his eyes on Ragnar. Markarth is a large area, built into the very mountains. It's old, made by the Dwemer. Evelyn carries Fjotra, the poor thing had fallen asleep. Artemis just kicks Ragnar into the dirt as he makes the man move. Nords aren't small, this man has spent his life mining. But he has nothing on Artemis as he holds out his dagger against the man. Daring him to try anything.

They head up to Understone Keep, the guards give them a few looks but they don't stop them. Artemis just keeps Ragnar close as they head inside the large keep. Igmund is still awake when they enter his throne room. He rises his brow slightly. "You again, who's this?" Ragnar, from Karthwasten. We found him guilty of murdering a family. The little girl is the only survivor. Ragnar was about to say something, but Artemis just gives him a sharp poke with his dagger. "I see, guards, take him away." His guards come out to drag him off to Cidhna Mine. Igmund turns back to them, then to the girl. "What about the child?" Evelyn lets out a low sigh. "I don't know, her name is Fjotra, I don't think she has any family to go to.." The Jarl rubs his chin a bit. "I can look into it, what were her parents names?" "Her father was Enmon, her mother...I think it was Mena.." He nods, writing it all down. "Give me a few days, I'm sure I can figure something out...if not." Evelyn shrugs slightly. "I'll take her with me." He just nods as he gets to work. For now they head out of the keep and to Vlindrel Hall. Another home she often forgets about. Artemis just follows after her as she lets herself in. He really shouldn't be surprised by this sort of thing at this point. A large Nord with a fogy eye greets them. "Who goes...My Thane!" It's been ages since she's came this way and she almost forgot about the poor guy. "Argis, I didn't mean to startle you." She moves past the man, laying the poor kid on her bed for now. "What happened?" She lets out a deep sigh. "Long story short, the poor kid lost both her parents. Her mother was cheating with this other fellow. She wouldn't leave her husband. Lover didn't like that and snapped. The kid is safe, but I doubt we'll be able to find someone to take her in."

Argis looks at her, before looking at Artemis. The assassin says nothing as he stands to the side. "I see, I'll make you something to eat.." He turns and makes his way to the kitchen. Artemis waits before turning his head. "A lot of people call you Thane." "It's a title, honestly doesn't mean much. But it gives me a home and housecarls...that I tend to forget about. A lot..." She doesn't mean to, it's just she's always on the move. Vlindrel isn't a bad place, it's just out of the way. "We can just stay here for a bit, until I can figure out what to do next.." She rubs the back of her head slightly. "Vilkas would kill me if I brought in another orphan..." She really needs to stop taking in lost kids. There's already four living in Jorrvaskr. Not that it's their fault they've been dealt a bad hand in life. She lets out groan as she plants herself in a nearby chair. Artemis joins her, his eyes glancing around the stone house. He's not about to tell her what she should do. After all she makes up her own mind on such matters. Though this isn't what she expected to run into when she took this job. She still feels like she needs to go stab something, someone, but she can control herself for now. She picks up a nearby bottle and takes a long drink. "I need a vacation.." She sighs again as she takes another drink. "That or I can disappear for a few days, a week, see if anyone will notice. Oh who am I kidding, all of Skyrim would notice." She lets out a low chuckle. "But a girl can dream right?" She could dream at least, she has that much. Still she just wants one day were weird s**t doesn't happen to her. But that's just to much to ask at times.
