Chapter 47:

Nate lets out a deep yawn as he and Danse enter his home in Diamond City. They had gotten Daisy back to Goodneighbor in one piece as well as the rest of the Caravan. He was beat as he flops down on the old couch he had gotten as Danse joins him. "You sure my power armor will be safe out there?" Nate lays his head on his lap and closes his eyes. "For the last time, yes it's fine, relax..." He was to tired to keep having this argument with him. Danse feels his face warm up, but holds Nate close to him as he sits back. He wasn't sure why though, but he felt on edge. Like something was going to happen but he had no idea what. It bothered him just how easy the trip had been, maybe that's what it was. Nate was on the edge of falling asleep when they both see a flash of light in the small room. Nate jumps up as they both looking at darkly dressed Courser. He holds up a gun and they both stand up slowly. "Who are you, where did you come from." Nate asks as the Courser looks at him. "I am X6-88, I have orders to bring you to our new base." Nate tightens his fist at this, great the Institute had another hiding hole. "And if I refuse?" X6 just turns to Danse. "M7-97, correct, I have his recall code, would you like for me to shut him down, permanently?" Nate jumps at this, often forgetting that Danse was a Synth. "Okay okay....just don't hurt him..." Danse turns to him with a pleading look. "Nate..."

Nate just walks over to the Courser slowly. "It's okay, just...be safe.." X6 says nothing as he uses the recall code, to take them to their new base. Nate covers his eyes and blinks, now in a bright room, with nothing more then a single bed, a bathroom and not much else beside someone kicking at what looked to be a door. X6 just flashes out as the girl jumps. "Nate?" "Sara!" He ruses to her side as he tilts his head. "Why are you here?" She gives him a small shrug. "No idea, been here awhile though, but I get the feeling who ever is up to this, wanted us together for whatever reasons.." All they could do was wait until the door opened and they were ordered to step back. Nate sucks in a hard breath as an older gentleman enters, wearing a white lab coat. He held himself high as he places his hands behind his back. Nate was about to lunge himself at the older man, but a robotic Synth aims a gun at them. "I'm sure you have questions." He spoke softly at them as Sara holds Nate back. "I killed you!" He sighs softly at this as he shakes his head. "You killed our creator, yes, you really didn't think he would have a backup, just in case. I have all his memories, even if I don't know what became of him.." Nate lets out a deep growl at this. "I shot him....and I'll do it again, I don't care what your plan is!!!" Sara just rises her brow, but she had a good idea who this was. Shaun had made an older copy of himself, as some sort of backup plan. "Believe it or not, you are both rather important to our new goal.."

Sara tightens her hold on Nate. "And that would be?" The older man just smiles. "Oh, you'll see, soon enough, until then I suggest you get comfortable, because neither one of you will be leaving anytime soon." He and his Synths leave the room, and she could hear bars lock it in place. "Great...just...fantastic.." She sits as she leans against the bed. Nate joins her as he sits back. "You okay?" Nate sighs deeply as he runs a hand through his messy hair. "No, I had hoped I would never...see him again. I can't...no I should have seen this coming, Shaun would had planed ahead, of course he would..." He sighs deeply as he looks at her. "I'm sorry you got dragged into this...though I wonder why they would be interested, no offence." She shakes her head at this. "I was wondering the same thing, but I honestly have no idea what they would want me for. But I don't like the sounds of it.." "No kidding, so what do we have to work with..?" She looks around the small room. "Nothing, the bed is attached to the wall, there's a toilet and some paper, and that's it, I have already look around the room." Nate gets up as he takes a look around anyways. She was right, they had been given only the most of basic needs. "Damn.." He checks the toilet, but that wasn't going to help any. Nate blinks as he looks at his arm, X6 had removed his Pip-Boy. "F*ck!" He throws his arms in the air as he sits back on the floor, crossing his arms.

They had no idea what time it was before 'Shaun' returned to them, X6 close behind him. Nate stood up slowly as he crosses his arms, Sara remained on the floor. "So you care to tell us what you are planing?" The older man ignores Nate, keeping his eyes on Sara. "Bring her." X6 just nods at this and grabs her, dragging her out the room. Nate tries to stop him, but the Synth was far stronger then he was and knocks him out before locking the room up once again. There was no getting away from his powerful grip as she was taken to a new room. This one just as bright as the other one. How anyone could stand pure white walls was beyond her as she was thrown into a chair and strapped in. X6 holds her down regardless as Shaun looks down at her. "Now things will go much smoother if you cooperate with us." She narrows her eyes at him a bit. "The hell do you want?" He walks over, pulling up a free chair as he keeps his eyes on her. "We've been watching you, when you got here, out of thin air." Her face pales a bit at this. "Ah, there we go, now, all we want, is whatever it is you used to get here." Her brows knit at this. "You think I have some magical technology that allows me to teleport? I hate to break it to you, but I don't..." Shaun doesn't seem to believe her however. "Is that so, we know about the Prydwen, and Elder Maxson, care to think about your answer?" She bites her lip. "I'm telling you the truth, I don't have anything, I swear!" She had no idea how long she had been kept in that room, but by the time she was allowed to return to Nate, she was so out of it.

Nate was about to demand answers, but only got a door to his face as he helps her onto the bed. Neither one had gotten anything to eat as she sighs deeply. "He seems to think I have some sort of...technology that allows me to teleport to different places, almost like your Pip-Boy.." Nate tilts his head at this. "Why would they think that?" She rubs the back of her head, unsure if she should say anything. At this point, she might as well. "Truth is, they've been watching me, the entire time I've been here..." She clears her throat a bit, wondering how to even explain this to him. "I should have been honest from the start, but to be fair, it sounds insane..." Nate pulls himself up as he sits by her, keeping his eyes on her. "I'm not from here, this...timeline, I wasn't frozen like you were neither was I apart of some crazy experiment. I don't....really know how I got here, I just woke up on the Prydwen.." Nate had no idea what to say to that. "So..you're saying your from...a different timeline, how is that possible?" She gives him a small shrug. "I don't...really know, outside of I came home from work, went on my computer, fell asleep and the next thing I know I'm on a ship. And the year was 2018, not 2287." His eyes go wide at this as his jaw drops. "Whoa...you're not kidding are you?" She shakes her head at him slowly. "I had no idea how to even explain that to Arthur, or to anyone so I kept my mouth shut as best I could, but I think deep down people were starting to suspect something was up."

Nate sits back for a moment, letting this all sink in. "So you know how to drive?" "Yeah, I remember movies, and lights, and, you name it.." She watches as he slowly seems to smile, he wasn't so alone after all, even with all the pre-war Ghouls he had met. "So why stay here, why not find a way back?" "To what?" She throws her hands up a bit. "I lived alone, I didn't get out much and dating...God I gave up ages ago...everything I told Arthur was the truth. I don't have family, so it doesn't matter how long I've been away, it's not like anyone will coming looking for me.." Nate gives her a understanding look as he wraps his arms around her. "I'm sorry.." She lets out a low sigh at this. "Don't be, it's not your fault, but we still have a problem here, how in the world do we get out?" Nate rubs the side of his head. "I have no idea, if only I knew where they took my Pip-Boy.." He growls as he gets up and walks over to the door. "And some damn food!!" He yells, but of course, there was no answer. "You haven't eaten?" She rises her brows at this as he shakes his head. "No you?" She shakes her head back. "Nothing, we're in a base of Synths...they can outlast us if they have to..." Nate groans a bit as he leans his head on the wall. "F*ck." He could only wonder what Elder Maxson was doing if she was here. "Maxson must be flipping his lid right about now.." She lets out a low sigh at this. "I doubt they'er going to be able to find us...wherever the hell we are..."

There wasn't much they could do so they spent most of the time talking. It was nice, to finally have someone that understood where she was coming from. Nate couldn't believe what he was hearing, but he was enjoying himself. Even if he was still a bit unsure of how she got here, but it seemed she didn't have an answer for that. Neither one had any idea what time it was, but they were both tired, and starving before X6 finally showed up with two trays of food for them. She was about to eat when she looked at the food. It takes her a minute before she looks at Nate. "Call me crazy, but does this look...different?" Nate takes a closer look. "It looks like the plants they were growing in the Institute...." X6 just shakes his head at them. "Of course, you my have taken out our main base, but we had a backup with the same technology we used there. So all our food, is radiation free..." Sara and Nate look at one another before eating. It was either trust the Synth, or starve. X6 waited until they were both done, gives them some water, and leaves once again. She was slowly getting tired, but she didn't trust falling asleep. "Think we should take shifts, just in case?" Nate nods his head at this. "There's no way in hell I can sleep, but I'll watch over you if you want.." Sara smiles at him warmly. "Thank you Nate, you're a good friend." Nate smiles at her back. "Yeah no worries, just try and get some rest, I'll wake you if anything happens..."

Days pass and Maxson was losing his mind. Danse had returned to Sanctuary after Nate had been taken and told Arthur what had happened. Since then, he hadn't been able to stop pacing the entire time. They had no idea where to even start looking. Hell they got lucky on finding the Institute. They were so far into the dark, there was no way to find a way out. "Don't worry sir, we'll find them both....I hope.." Danse was worried as well, not having any idea what could be happening as they spoke. "What I don't understand is why take Sara, Nate I understand.." Arthur had been giving some thought into it as well, but he had no answer. "I wish I knew..." He wanted to swear, but promised to keep it on a down low now that there was a child running around, somewhere. Preston was pacing the area as well. "I hate to say this, but we're grasping at a dead end here. We simply don't have the means to find where they might be hiding..." Danse gives it some thought. "No, but there's still Virgil.." Arthur rises his brow at this before his eyes go wide. He was the one that got them into the Institute in the first place. He had been a scientist for them before he fled into the Glowing Sea. "Damn it why didn't we think of this sooner, we're going, now!" Both the Elder and Danse hop into his Vertibird and head south for the Glowing Sea.

Virgil was surprised by the visit. Thanks to Nate, he was no longer a super mutant. Still it was safer for him to remain out here, and just focus on his work. He recognized Danse after a minute or so. "You again, who's...this?" He glances at Arthur as Danse lets out a low cough. "This is Elder Maxson, leader of the Brotherhood of Steal, and we need your help.." Virgil was a middle-aged man, that hadn't gone gray just yet. "With what, I already got you into the Institute...?" Danse shakes his head at this. "That's just it, you remember Nate. He was just taken by a Courser a few days ago.." Virgil was a bit surprised by this. "Oh...what which one, did he tell you his number?" "Yes, X6-88.." The scientist winces at this as he lets out a low sigh. "I should have known, but I didn't think they would be crazy to try and pull it off." They both wait for him to continue. "After the mix up in Diamond City, Father made a backup plan, to make another facility...sadly, I have no idea where, only Father knew.." Maxson kicks at something as Danse looks down. "You have to know something, they took our Sentinel, Sara." Virgil rises his brow at this. "Odd, I can't say I know the name, so I'm not sure what to tell you there." Danse had to keep his eyes on his Elder to make sure he didn't start tearing the place up. "I'm sorry, really, even if I knew where it was, it'd be pointless without a way in, and you know well enough how our...the Institutes technology worked."

They had no way of teleporting. Nate had only been able to do so thanks to his Pip-Boy. And even then they had little idea how it all worked. Virgil felt bad for the two of them. He owed Nate a good deal for getting the cure to him. "I do have one idea..." He heads off as he goes to an old desk he had. "Lets see...." It takes him a minute or so to find some old documents he had. "I remember them talking about a place, D.B Technical High School, it's a long shot but..." Arthur was close to hugging this man, but he doesn't. "No, that's good enough...thank you.." Virgil just nods at this as the two of them leave. But Arthur turns to him before doing so. "If...you ever get tired of living out here alone...the Brotherhood would be...happy to let you join.." Virgil was surprised by this as he gives it some thought. It would make things easier on him, and he wouldn't risk of radiation. "Um...thanks, I think I'll take the offer, I'll need a few days to gather my...things." Arthur just nods and hands him something to contact them with before they ran back off to leave. It was a long shot, but Arthur was willing to take it. They make it back to the Vertibird as they make their way out south-east. Danse nervously looks down as they fly out. He could only hope they were hiding there somewhere. Not for his sake, but for Arthur's. He had finally fallen in love, losing Sara, would break him. "We'll find them sir..." Arthur just nods at this. "You're damn right we will."
