My Book
I've been writing in this since I was thirteen in 2007. I still am writing in it, and it will probably be my legacy till the day I die. (Don't start reading from the beginning as my writing was atrocious then.)
Not Fair
Author's Notes: This was a challenge given to me by a friend, I wanted to post it here too due to the fact that I have some readers here. The challenge was to write a scene in a film, and write out the scene in a short story type of way. The purpose of this is to help understand the purposeful choices of the director, camera angles etc, etc, and etc. But its also a test on attention to detail, of how accurate can we depict the scene through words but without losing the interest of the reader. Here's my shot at on one of my favourite scenes from one of my favourite movies.

------The two sat outside of what appears to be a coffee shop. Its a nice sunny day and, business looks good as the outside tables are full of people. In On their table piles a plethora of papers and books. She is working on her homework as he sits there watching her with a bored expression.

------He moves his cup of coffee: "How's it goin?"

------"Fine" she responds back without breaking concentration.

------"Yep... Good," he nods his head back. "You want some help?"

------She darts up and looks at him: "No."

------He smirks back: "C'mon give me one little peek, and we'll go to the battin cages."

------"No, no, noooo," she groans back "It is actually important, that I learn this." You can see the frustration in her eyes, possibly due to his insistence and the difficulty of her work's contents. "Its really important," she emphasizes as she goes back to work. "To me, okay?"

------"Alright," he sits back and looks into the distance. "You know what, why don't we just sit around here all day?"

------"Yes, why don't we?" she snarkily responds back, shaking her head. She sighs: "Alright Mr. Nosey Parker, since you are intent on busting my balls," She drops her pen, crosses her arms and, stares at him. "Let me ask you a question."

------"Alright."

------"Do you have a photographic memory?" she asks softly.

------"I don't know. I just kinda remember, you know? I mean how do you remember your phone number, you know?" He replies back as she laughs a little. "You just do."

------"Well did you study organic chemistry?" she asks.

------"A little bit."

------"Oh, just for fun?"

------"Yeah, for kicks."

------"Yeah, its 'so' much fun studying organic chemistry." she rolls her eyes a bit. "Are you mad?" her eyes darts at him as he laughs at the thought. "Have you completely lost your mind? Nobody studies it for fun, its not a necessity, not for someone like you."

------He is taken back a bit: "Someone like me?"

------"Yeah, someone who devises their time fairly evening between batting cages and bars." He laughs even more at her remarks. "I would hardly say its a necessity." she adds on.

------"No," he says with a smile.

------"You know, there are very smart people here in Harvard and even they have to study because this is really hard." She points at her papers. "And yet... you do it so easily. I don't understand. I don't understand how your mind works."

------"Do you play the piano?" he asks.

------"I want to talk about this!" she insists.

------"No i'm trying to explain it to you. You play the piano?"

------She gives in: "A little bit."

------"Alright so when you look at the piano you see Mozart?"

------"I see chopsticks," she says trying to figure out where this will lead to.

------"Well alright, Beethoven okay? He looked at a piano and it just made sense to him, he could just play."

------"So what are you saying, you play the piano?"

------"No, not a lick. I mean I look at a piano and I see a bunch of keys, three pedals and a box of wood. But Beethoven, Mozart, they saw it and they can just play." He shakes his head. "I couldn't paint you a picture, I probably can't hit a ball out of Fenway and, I can't play the piano."

------"But you can do my O-chem paper in under an hour?"

------"Well when it comes to stuff like that I could always play." there is a small gap of silence between them. "That's the best way I can explain it."

------She is awestruck by his response. You can see that it has brighten up her mood a bit.

------"Come here," she makes the gestures with her hand. "I have to tell you something." She scoots closer to him.

------"Huh?" he leans forward.

------"I have to tell you something."

------"Oh."

------"Well-" At the moment she stops her sentence, and passionately kisses him. He is caught by surprise, but he gives in; moving his hand gently over her face. He softly grabs her chin, and they stare at each other for a moment.

------"Its not fair." she whispers moving back a bit.

------"What's not fair? What?"

------"I've been here for four years... and I've only just found you."
